  • Remote "starting" a Webasto

So I'm putting Webasto in one of my fleet (Land Rover Defender). I would like to get a long distance, paging remote starter for the Webasto (not the engine). Webasto do sell one, but it is stupid expensive.

So I need something very simple, and I would hope that any remote starter should do the job.

Any thoughts on the simplest unit to do the job, that will reliably work and give reasonable range?

I was looking at the Galaxy 2000RS as it is one of the few that does not include an alarm system, and price is pretty decent, http://www.ecarsecurity.com/Galaxy-2.../2000rs-2w.htm

I figured there would be some experts here and would better know than me what brands work and what are crap......

Dont know if this will help or not. You could get a timer for it. Check out Polar Mobility

Also there is another heating device that works like a Wabasto called Espar www.espar.com We rig up oilfield trucks with these all the time and they work great.

I don't want a timer as my schedule is quite variable.

Anyway, I picked up a Logisys remote relay. $27 delivered. Very simple and does the job.
