and why does the z06 have them anyways? shouldn't it have fancy dancy 45degree angled coilovers like lotus and cars like that run?

If they decided to comment about the leaf springs, they should have commented on the Porsche too. Something along the lines of "omg, rear engine? That's kind of odd, awefully old design for such an expensive car"

Road and Track often seems to get faster times than anyone else IMO

The Autocar journalists gave it a fair shot from what I saw in the video. I think that their jabs at things like the leaf springs were meant in jest and lightheartedly, just teasing. I think you took them too seriously and obviously got defensive right away. Maybe you are taking it too personally.

I own none of the cars in question. But I have read at least a dozen comparos where the Vette comes about where it should relative to what it does on paper. Road and Track is not the anomaly. Find me another comparo where the z06 does that badly, and I'll find 3 where it does not.

But when an obviously skewed video surfaces and people are "OMG z06 suxors" it's just irritating as a general car enthusiast. I get equally annoyed when the ignorant bash Hyundai because of cars built in the 80s.

I can ignore the badge enough to say that even with a composite transverse leaf spring, it's handling and speed is amazing value for the dollar and yes it does compete with and often beats cars far more expensive. Not the GT2 (for that you need the ZR1 model). Would I buy any of them? Probably not.

It has no relation to a truck. It's a single piece that goes across the rear axle like an anti-sway bar (and acts like one among other things). It's performance is equivalent to coils with some advantages to lower center of gravity but requires a few extra mounting points. Costs about as much as well.

But ever since Clarkson make the crack about it being like a horse drawn carriage, it has got a horrible rep and other reviewers like to make the same joke, har har har.

A joke that I guess only people with a sense of humor laugh at :( I honestly posted this video as a cool video that showed some cool cars, and automatically it got taken so seriously.

Not that the vette had a chance lol but the shifts seemed just a bit slow? If you want a car thats half the price and can give a gt-r a run they should be looking at the skyline!

Not that the vette had a chance lol but the shifts seemed just a bit slow?

kinda seemed like it.

the first run he grinded into second , and couldnt get into third.

I dont know if that has to do with they are probably used to righthand drive cars, or maybe the tranny in the vette actually can't handle fast shift's like that.

The rest of the car is so outdated and uses so much old technology i wouldn't doubt it.
