  • Fun time with a Suzuki 1300R (Hayabusa) last night....

So I'm cruising along deerfoot last night with the gf on the way to a family dinner, when I see a couple crotch rockets come up from behind me in my rear view. Both of them were behind me for a while, when all of a sudden one of them takes off. Well, he's gone down the deerfoot, never again to be seen by me. The other one, however, pulls up beside me. I take a look and it looks pretty extreme to me. I check out the badging....Suzuki 1300 R....aka Hayabusa. That's a DAMN fast bike. I was thinking "Well, that thing would slaughter me if I tried to run him." I'm sitting there glancing over, admiring the bike, when the rider looks at me through the helmet and smiles and gives a thumbs up. This guy must have been a car enthusiast because my car is debadged and stock looking. The only thing that gives it away is the RS4 front bumper, the aftermarket exhaust tip, the rims, and the lowered suspension. Other than that it looks like any other A4 to most people. Anyways, after he gave me the thumbs up, I told the gf that I was going to have to play a little. I revved the engine, dropped it in 4th (I was doing about 115kph), and I heard him drop down a couple gears. Well we both laid into it and that bike sounded MEAN AS HELL! haha I had to take the next exit, so we didn't have much time to play, but I ended up pulling about 3-4 cars on the guy from 110 to 200 kph. I was quite surprised to say the least.
It's not often I get the chance to run a Hayabusa, so I just thought I'd share

Oh he was trying alright. Maybe the bike isn't running very well, I don't know. But you would agree that he was trying if you had heard that thing scream.

If he was really pushing it, hayabusa would clean house. 9.8-9.9qtrs @ 140-145mph, nuff said.

Your one of those guys that pulls up next to people and steps on it when the other driver is either unwilling, unknowing, or not ready (wrong gear). Then you go home and jump on a bunch of forums and tell everyone how you just beat a insert random car here

The thing about a bike like that is that you don't want to kill yourself so you'll probably not stay on it longer than 2-3 seconds?

Don't count your victories against bikes!

I don't advocate street racing so keep it safe out there guys.

Take a ride on an open class sport bike.....you will never think that you can come close to equaling the acceleration in anything other than a very highly modded car. I have a Yamaha FJR 1300 and it has outstanding rollon power (and the big Suz H will eat my bike alive!)
