They are making it so that even if you are under .08 BA while driving you will receive a 24 hour suspension...
Just dont drink and drive, its not worth it, you will get caught eventually.
I can assault someone, rob a store, break into a house - all these are some sort of fine + community service usually, or I can blow over .08 and get a 30+ thousand dollar fine (assuming a newer car). That's a stronger punishment than RAPE.
Yet some redneck with a 500 dollar POS beater, it's basically ok because he'll just go buy another 500 dollar beater.
I support higher punishments, but to have the severity depending on which car you take is retarded, just like the Ontario "street racing" crush car BS.

i'll agree that some punishments do not suit the crime, but what stops joe bentley from having his car taken and him going out to buy another bentley? doesn't matter what, or cost of the vehicle being driven. you take other peoples lives in your hands when you D&D. so ya, over .08, you're toast. it's like strolling down the street with a loaded gun. sure i can wave it around, fire off a few rounds and not hit anyone, doesn't make it right and i should be thrown in the slammer, not have it taken away for 24hrs.
maybe a little extreme, the way i look at it, if you have issues with this, you are part of the problem, therefore, if you don't D&D, it has no bearing on you at all.
my 2 pennies.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
f you have issues with this, you are part of the problem
Knowing what JUSTICE and FAIRNESS are is not part of the problem.
I hope one day you are punished unjustly for something, and can keep your rosy attitude.
I agree with harsh punishments on this one law, but the punishment should not be a fine determined by now much you decided to spend on a car that year.

Most people who have nice stuff and that have worked for it do not act like Paris Hilton, sure they may go buy a new bentley but chances are that next time they'll have a driver pick them up if theyre going to be drinking.
i know 3 people who have had license suspensions, and they still drove everyday as if nothing happened. It has to go beyond a license. Nobody checks if I have a license when I get in my car in the morning. Maybe impound the car for a year and don't allow registration of another or something.
