the worst part is once you get downtown the train gets full of frigging bums and junkies trying to stay warm so when your sitting there they tend to screw with you

WTF the god damn train broke down again today!!! i took the bus in .. went to go up to the NW again.. get on at the 1st street station.. its empty the guy tells me the one ahead broke down.. look down and inbetween 2nd and 3rd street there is a NE train and people are getting out and jumping into the streets! way to go transit you just fooked a ton of students out of thier learnings and people out of work two days in a row!

I have been told it was not put underground do to the number natural springs we have in Calgary, the water would create major problems when installing and up keeping the train.
I heard it was because of rising costs when the system was built (which I suppose could have a lot to do with the aquifers and natural springs).
There actually is an underground LRT station underneath city hall that they finished. I saw it on the news one time, its actually kind of cool, pretty much a run of the mill subway station but completely empty, and there is only one door to get into it located in the aldermen's parkade. Going through the tunnel between Victoria Park stampede station and City Hall Station you can actually see where the line would divert to the "hidden station".
This guy went exploring it... It actually looks like something from Ghostbusters.
