Re: Cell Phones and data plans question

Yeah, WAP and Edge are different for sure

1GB edge on Rogers = 65/mo..I think thats the best """"deal"""" available in canada right now, however in comparison to everywhere else in the world with maybe the exception of new zeland we're gettin screwed

Re: Cell Phones and data plans question

I recently picked up a pearl from rogers and the basic data plan, it is unlimited emails, but surfing will cost an arm and a leg, and I don't need it.

The pearl, if you sign up for the 15/mo data plan, you can cancel it immediately, ie get the phone for free, then cancel the plan, the cancellation is 10/mo up to $100, so if you want to cancel it right away.

Hotmail is surfing, and they don't support pop3 access on the free accounts, so you will not be able to use hotmail off the blackberry.

Thats not true, you can use it for anything, all they care about is the amount of bandwidth you use. Bart had it on his phone, had gmail, brower, etc.

Also for those who say "it just isn't the same" vs Blackberry: how many qwerty phones have you used? Zero huh?

I think data speed may be slower but the price is also Looooowwwwwer.

Actually I have tried a couple other brands and nothing works nearly as well for ME.

Re: Cell Phones and data plans question

I bought a P4000 HTC off of Ebay in September, called Telus my provider and set it up. I refused to add a data package to my plan, as I really just wanted the phone for it's awesome abilities. The reason I went with the P4000 is that it has built in WI-FI. So basically whenever I HAVE to get something off the net onto my phone, I just flip my WI-FI switch and browse to my hearts content....FREE OF CHARGE. For the record I think Telus may have put me on a pay per use internet, but I have been using it for 4 months now and have not incurred a single data charge. (I also have used my phone to get weather, search the web on a cool Opera browser and even youtube'd a shite-load of video's)
