I have my 4th year engg project at U of C next year once I get back from my internship and was thinking I could do something with this idea.

Hooking a wiimote up to a PC is enough for a 4th year engineering project?

haha they don't want a lot out of us no I would have to do A LOT more. It would be a lot of work to get a prof on board to do something like this as most of the U of C engg profs in ZOO like to do wireless communications stuff, but if I could come up with a good final goal etc it could be cool

track IR already does this for the PC, it's very popular with the flight sim and racing sim people.

Here's a great video of GTR2 with TrackIR, as well as Matrox's technology to drive 3 displays at the same time. I'd say this is the ultimate setup for racing sims.
