      WTF!!! are you serious..

this city is a pile of farking garbage!

they are going to up transit passes to 90/month and charge 3/day to park in the park/ride lots!!!

      green light cameras

      photo radar galore

red light cameras (these are actually a good thing)

and this one is the best i've seen yet.. on deerfoot i've seen new ghost vehicles.. one is a white truck with a toolbox in the back and the other was a jeep SUV.. WTF is with that

honestly i'm moving my ass out of here soon..

Re: One step closer to Speed on Green cameras

I just seen this on the news yesterday. They have really turned a good thing into something else. Then again who really blows through intersections at high speeds? Most people slow down anyhow.

i'm for this more that mobile photo. at least these will be at known locations, and if they are known, they may do their job of slowing people down, rather then shooting by a van you didn't know was there, and really didn't make things any safer.

It was a Provincial decision, was it not? I also heard that speed is measured by buried magnetic loop sensors and not radar (radar detectors will not help). Pilot for a few months and then fines in the spring. Yippee!

if you live here, you'll know where they all are anyways. All the intersections with redlight cams are already marked with signage. You just need the new detector where you can record points based on GPS .

Re: One step closer to Speed on Green cameras

This is only the beginning, you need to look to Europe and the UK where this has been going on for years. In the uk now they are far into their installation of intelligent reg plate reading cameras on every main junction and all bridges on major highways. the reason? well first it was promoted as being able to let the cops track suspected terrorists as they travel around the country but as of this year they announced they will be used to monitor every car and the average time it takes to get between two camera locations. If the time is faster than the average calculated value Bang youve been speeding and you gets a nice fine. If you are a persistant speeder you can lose your license in on 1 hour trip quite easily.

the cameras and infrastructure have been used for about 10 years. They first appeared on highways with roadworks and they just measured you over the start to end of the road works.

Gotta say though, they really worked in road works, noone speeds through anymore!

seriously we still got it good over here.

The GPS units that warn when you are near a camera are already well established and are kept very up to date via an offer from the companies that if you are the first to submit the location of a new camera (and it is backed up by others and hence added to the database) you get a free years subscription. I know one guy whos boss takes the contracts on to install the cameras and he often uses the info to get a free subscription

the future is bleak people, soon cars wont be able to speed anyway so it will be a mute issue

Hey now, you can talk down the dealers and junkies all you like but leave the hookers alone. They have been providing value to society for thousands of years!
