hrmm well yesterday when i played skate my 360 would freeze.. on menus, gameplay didn't matter.. within 3 minutes of every reboot it would freeze on me.. so i left it alone.. today tried it again and it froze a bunch then i got a red flashing light on the front which means its whored.. then i rebooted again and its been working fine for a bit now..

how did those who've sent thiers in deal with it? does it take a while to get back? i didn't get the futureshop warranty with it just the MS one.. i got it last xmas so its still under warranty..

I havent done it but as I understand it you call MS and they send you a box and you send it off. after that i think it takes about a month.

Just send it back, you will more then likely have to live without it for about 6 weeks but I have heard they send you one free month of live.

yea the friggin thing just froze on me again but i can't get it to go red again.. i'll call tommorow after work and see what i can do .. damn 6 weeks with no games will give me plenty of time to work on the garage hahhhaah

6 weeks???!! I was without mine for about 4 or 5 days.

Call the MS warranty number, they'll ask what it's doing, they'll ask you to check a thing or 2 then they'll tell you, "yup it's hooped". They send you a box to put it in (lovingly referred to as "the coffin"), you drop it off at purolator and a couple days later your new one is ready for pickup. If you start the process tomorrow (or today if you can) you might be able to have it before next weekend.

I think Blair did it not too long ago so his experience may have gone differently but that's how mine went.

awesome thanks jason! i submitted an online ticket with MS today so i'll see what they say.. when it freezes now the games will freeze with artifacts all over the screen or the entire thing just goes black.. MS dashboard freezes, any game,etc.. fookin thing

hey when you send it back to you keep your HD? i don't want to lose all my saves man.. maybe i can back them up to a USB key if the focker doesn't die on me

Mine was about 6 weeks when I had it sent, and my Sister and Brother-In-Law, just had theirs sent in last month and it was also about 5 weeks, but yes you usually get a free month live card.

I still wouldn't buy a PS3, over priced system with almost zero decent games. Yes from what I have read they are taking even longer to fix now due to the Halo effect, ie everyone playing halo 3 until their box dies. The good new is you will more then likely get the updated heatsink so you should not have a problem again. It also looks like the new boxes with the newest processor and heatsink are also on Calgary shelves so people buying new should be safe.

Let me get this straight.

You are without your 360 for 5 to 6 weeks because of some problem that a lot of people are having....and you get a whole month of free Live? Wow, way to step up to the plate, MS.

don't have one of those systems, but if you go to purolater any night, there will be a few people shipping out their Xbox consoles.

Wow, I must have got lucky then, mine was super quick. That was like 8 months ago though. I thought they were trying to move to a 72 hour turnaround, guess not. I'm a little concerned about mine as I don't have warranty anymore, luckily they've come down in price a lot.

And no, you keep everything but the actual console, I had that concern too.
