Re: More blockades for Canadians going South to shop

A good step compared to places like Chapters and Indigo that are just putting lots of signs and info up to snowball the consumer instead of making any adjustments, supposedly they are also blacking out the US prices on products. I think the Walmart business may see a jump!

I personally ordered a few DVDs from the states yesterday, I collect Criterion DVDs which are very expensive, in HMV typically about $45 plus and yesterday I paid about $25US for them.

I edited my post, I guess Chapters and Indigo said they were cutting there prices today as well. The finance minister has been putting pressure on bigger companies to adjust pricing.

They were talking on the radio the other day about how this affects sporting teams (mainly Hockey) in Canada, as all of a sudden those big contracts are not so big anymore. Iginla lost $350,000 last night by taking his money in USD... mind you he has another 6.6 million to cover that loss.

Bad for the players but good for the team owners as now there revenue dollars will go a lot farther. Hopefully it will help in the future to have more Canadian teams.

On second thought, I went though a few items and not much has changed.

I went by the Chapters in Chinook last weekend....the signs that the prices aren't their fault and that the publishers established it months/years ago and so they will continue to profit from it are still up...
