    Not just cars, most things are a good deal in the US now. The Globe & Mail's front page was saying how the dollar has improved about 15% this year but hardly any of that has been passed on to us consumers. I like to support my local businesses but hard to justify when buying in the US is that much cheaper.

        Loving the exchange right now.

        I booked trades yesterday & today for USD and was able to buy $2000USD for $2024.82 which I think was pretty good. Everything that I bought in Vegas is getting cheaper since I put it on my USD Visa which they have not sent the bill for yet.

        I was following the rate in advance of my trades this morning at one time $1000 USD was exchanging at $1000.48 CAD, too bad you can never buy it at that rate.

        Those cars are looking more & more tempting.

                  Not when you run a business that buys everything in USD. I cant wait to see where it goes.

                          no it doesn't. for a multitude of reasons;
                          i'll start with this being a car forum, meaning the first thing thats gonna go up is gas prices at the pump.
                          if you mean for alberta....no again. AB is still largely a natural gas economy. With natgas in the hole still, there are still a large number of companies hurting and therefore employees.
                          oil sands has been highly profitable since arounde $75/barrel WTI.

                          high oil prices are going to slow the economic recovery, which means the recession/depression both in canada and south of the border is going to continue. look for fuel surcharges to come back on everything from flights to groceries.

                          High fuel prices doesn't do any of us any favors.

                            well . Here is what i knows is . fuel prices You guys can talk to me when you have a gas pig . and all . i mean all the oil drilling . service and whatever companies are going full tilt and looking for more bodies up here, and that means good things . for red deer anyways . they have started charters from red deer airport to fort mac . and my December was great compared to last years . as have many of the other small businesses around here . Biff runs a company directly related to oil and gas and they are way up from last year . so yes when oil prices are high i see that the rest follows . im not an expert but the last time it was so busy around here was when the oil prices were way high (also when i bought the tt) so i believe they are related . Oil prices low we are slow . oil prices high so much easier to get by . i love rhymes

                              as for slow the recovery . it needs to be a slow recovery or no lessons will have been learned . if it was just a hiccup .companies will be dumb again , people will over extend themselves again .We are a huge natural gas province but my friends that work nat gas are swamped . the prices are low but not dead . . i think things are on a good upturn at a good pace . but the dolor high does diminish the attractiveness of our exports . so that still bad .
