Please forgive me, I have never followed comic books, but I had no idea ironman was just a regular dude without superpowers

So he just built a kick arse iron suit?????

If i not mistaken, isnt he considered one of the most power super heros in the Marvel line-up?

1. No he is not even close to being one of the most powerful super heroes.

2. He is just an ordinary dude in a suit.

3. The suit gives him the ability to fly, take damage, and has various weapons.

Ironman "Tony Stark", he was captured by terrorists in Vietnam (Gulf in the movie), and had a piece of shrapnel in his heart that was killing him and they forced him to make him a bomb with the assistance of a brilliant physicist, although using their combined creativity they build a suit that will give him superhuman powers and will keep his heart from failing. He escaped and kicks the **** out of the terrorists, comes home, refines his suit and dons the name Ironman aka Tony Stark's bodyguard and mascot for Stark Industries, which is later renamed Stark International.

Along the way he meets a pilot names Rhodes, who will eventually become War Machine.
