Looking for a general contractor

I got a floating glass shelving unit that I need to get installed and I don't trust myself to do it. It's quite heavy and it will need to be screwed into the wall studs so as not to come crashing down on my computer.

Does anyone know a good general contractor / handyman that I could hire?

pretty sure you'll need a handyman lol however they're far and few in alberta lmao. Maybe find someone who's a carpenter? and is a friend of a friend?

I know I sound like a total weiner for wanting a contractor to take care of something so simple, but it is a very expensive piece and is quite heavy (120lbs) so I don't want to fugg anything up. Added to which, it will be suspended over my computer so if it did fall I'd be double-screwed.

Let me do it All it will cost you is a case of beer or a bottle of rye before the work happens then in a week or so it will cost you a glass shelf and a CPU.

Your correct! you do sound like a weiner. jk Besides a ton of the handyman ppl tend to be total idiots and you'd be better on your own. Trying to get a contractor out to such a small job well be next to impossible, i would guess seeing its so difficult to get them to big jobs. Besides get a studfinder and google the topic. you'll be fine.

Seeing as it will more then likely cost you $300 for someone to just step in your door and you don't feel confident hanging such a heavy shelf; I would just go to ikea and just a cheap easy to hang shelf and be done with it.

Agree you sound like a wiener.

120 lbs is not that much depending on how many anchor points you put in, screw them into the studs with long wood screws and you're golden.

Or look up 'handy man connection'. I had a guy come in and do some PVS pipe work in my basement and he did a good job.

Yep, I'm for real.

Like I said in my post above, I realize I am being a weiner about it but it is an extremely expensive piece and if I messed it up I'd be pretty pissed. If it was simply a $500 piece of crap from Ikea then I wouldn't hesitate, but it's not, so I am.

At any rate, it's being installed on the weekend.
