oh snap, a guy i work with, is banking on the "statue of limitations" or w/e its called to run out on a speeding ticket in California. This was several years ago and he was told there is currently a warrant for his arrest in the state of California. He is assuming this will work... now I'm wondering if they might snag his ass.

My friend had this in oregon. You are fine unless you are found driving in the state you were caught speeding in. You dont serve any time all you do is get an automatic trip with police escort to the police station to pay your fine plus interest. Washington, Oregon and Cali all have the same format. I think it is 5 or 7 years depending on the state before all debts are forgiven and you are free and clear

When I was living in the UK and Racing in the states one of our guys got a speeding ticket while in the states and thought hed get away with not paying for it, 6 months later he returned to the US was pulled into an office at immigration, left to sweat for 5 hours, made to pay the fine and then put on the next flight home and told not to go to the states again. Bang goes your holiday and the insurance wouldnt pay out for the 2 weeks of hotels etc.

LOL he was a cocky arse though and deserved it

Which state was this in? Usually immigration and the state have almost no communication on those things, but I do know washington state and the border do have lists and pick up drivers who have unpaid tickets. You simply get the free trip to the cop shop and the fine plus interest paid on the spot.

The old VR6 elitist cruises we did from Vancouver down to the Washington shows had to deal with this a few times.

Cant remember for sure but it was either Atlanta or Florida coz thats the only races he went to.

I got a ticket last summer in bc, its a good 200 bucks. I have had 3 letters so far saying that they havn't recieved payment. Not on my drivers abstract and it hasn't affected my credit either. I also have no intention of paying it.
