Just like the title says, I got a ticket in BC today and I know I'll need to pay it, but I don't know if I'll get points for it. Anyone know the answer??

Re: BC Ticket - Alberta Demerits?
I always thought you didnt get points, and you really didnt need to pay it until you head back to BC. I might be out to lunch though. When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

My bro got one in the states... he figured, no big deal... didn't pay it...
Holy crap, they are going to the ends of the earth to track him down now, I am sure they've spent a couple thousand dollars to get his hundred bucks.KR

Re: BC Ticket - Alberta Demerits?
That happened to me few years ago. Totally forgot about an Ontario ticket that I had and they were hounding me like crazy. Actually, come to think of it, I don't recall paying the Saskatchewan ticket back then either. That was five years ago!

Re: BC Ticket - Alberta Demerits?
When I was living in the UK and Racing in the states one of our guys got a speeding ticket while in the states and thought hed get away with not paying for it, 6 months later he returned to the US was pulled into an office at immigration, left to sweat for 5 hours, made to pay the fine and then put on the next flight home and told not to go to the states again. Bang goes your holiday and the insurance wouldnt pay out for the 2 weeks of hotels etc.
LOL he was a cocky arse though and deserved itLast edited by Kordain; 07-03-2007, 05:19 PM.Eric..

Re: BC Ticket - Alberta Demerits?
oh snap, a guy i work with, is banking on the "statue of limitations" or w/e its called to run out on a speeding ticket in California. This was several years ago and he was told there is currently a warrant for his arrest in the state of California. He is assuming this will work... now I'm wondering if they might snag his ass.Dylan

Re: BC Ticket - Alberta Demerits?
this thread is so full of ****. i have 4...yes 4...driving without due care and attention and speeding tickets in BC from 3-5 years ago and have even had a 6 month driving ban from BC (yes i hate doing 90 on a 8 lane divided highway). nothing appears on my AB abstract, and while they sent me a letter sending it to collections, a simple RTS on the envelope and a throw back in the mail solved that problem.
I have over a $1000 in unpaid tickets in BC still and have been pulled over since then with nothing happening. I have checked my credit rating and there is nothing there, and I had a friend who works at ICBC to run my name and license number and while i am still in the system after 6 years all debts are forgiven there.
Government and license people like to scare you. While they say a lot of stuff transfers in reality it doesn't.
My advice, pay the ticket early, save yourself $25, and take a peek at your abstract in 6 months time. I am pretty certain you will find nothing there. Either way there is nothing you can really do about it short of wasting your time trying to fight itTeam Highschool
