  • Golf Lessons

The time has finally come that I need to learn how to swing some clubs. I live out in Airdrie and work in the NE (memorial drive area).

Any suggestions for where I should go? Don't mind doing a group lesson, but don't want to break the bank either. Weeknight lessons are sort of what i am looking for.

    Thanks!

    Re: Golf Lessons

Lessons help to a degree.... but nothing beats just getting out a practicing. Maybe do one or two lessons, then practice for a few weeks/month, and go back for another lesson or two.
Sidewalks are for normal walkin.... aint no room for fancy walkin....

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I just need a little something to get me started...

        Re: Golf Lessons

This is going to sound like lame advice...

Bobby Jones (one of the greatest golfers of all time, golfed in the 1920's-1930's) made a (now) really old film that teaches you how to golf. He was one of the golfing greats, and back then, the game was much simpler. Simpler means easier to learn.

The way that his film teaches you to golf is straightforward and honest and it shows you how to golf naturally just like Bobby Jones did.

Because the film is SO old, it actually makes it easier to watch and learn from (I think). Unlike so many newer documentaries that are more about celebrities or excitement or entertainment or science, his film just focuses on golf.

I believe that its called "How I Play Golf, by Bobby Jones" (1931).

Anyway, I liked it. Imagine if Tiger woods just set out with a home video camera to make a How To Golf video. It would probably be awesome! Well thats what this is like.

You can maybe just rent it if you think it might be for you. I can see how some people might not like it, but I was surprised.

I'm not to sure but when I was a kid like 7 or something I went to Village Square leisure center and they had them there.
I think the best place for info would be that 311#. If you could get lessons at the city course would probably be the cheapest.

Id get someone who plays well, low 80s scorer, to take you to the range 4 times and get the basics right, then practice a couple of time a week at the range, after a year ( and a few games) youll be hitting prety well then consider taking some lessons when youve got something to build off. The basics are pretty straight forward and if you get someone who plays well they shouldnt teach you any bad habits.
