Re: Interesting Argument About Global Warming

Personally I do things that I know will make the world a better place to live while I and my children are here. Namely I recycle, save electricity where I can and promote new cleaner technology. I honestly think this generation has bigger things to worry about then global warming. Things like the pollution caused by the industrialization of china, nuclear armaments rising all over the world and rampant poverty in almost ever country of the world. These are all issues that can be solved in our lifetimes rather then global warming which we may or may not be able to stop. Google the "gore effect" and see what you get out of that too.

I think that is the best way to look at it, I think it more comes down to doing your part. I don't understand the whole "whore" mentality, this state of mind not only is hurting our planet but has a great affect on other people around us. I just try to do my part.

i agree with brent tho.. i don't know if all the crazy weather as of late is from global warming or 'climate change' as people tend to call it today but there are way worse things happening in this world that need to be dealt with

Re: Interesting Argument About Global Warming

I collect all the paper and cardboard that I delivered to my house. Of course I then use it for burning material for my firepit.

I also have many energy saving items in my house, although the reason for that is 100% because I would rather not pay enmax.

As for Mr. Gore's spiel about how we all need to reduce and conserve and blah blah there have been items written about his 3 houses having power consumption similar to that of ten to fifteen average US houses. But he claims it could be a lot worse as he has 'green' devices throughout all of his three houses.

The problem does not lie with the 'common folk'. It lies with the ultra-consumers and corporations. The government touts it's 'one tonne' solution, yet will not dare to put forth a mandate requiring emissions control equipment on industrial and commercial vehicles. We individuals have to use catalytic converters, but big trucks don't have to have em, and they are the ones with the greatest percentage of consumption, and emission.

Put a 'no flyers please' sticker on your door/mailbox. We moved about a month ago, and within 1 week of putting that sticker on my mailbox I haven't got a single flyer.

Because paper is renewable, and biodegradable, it's one of the ironies of recycling that by consuming more paper, we cause more trees to be planted.

Check into the chemical pits they use to bleach the paper before recycling and ask yourself where that scum goes. Also wonder about the gas used by all the vehicles used to transport that paper the additional distances. It's a net loss.
