    Eurodrivers:

I have been taking my Jetta to Fountain Tire (Northland), ever since NL VW said some time ago, that along with the work I had done, I also needed a $1000 worth of work done, in the form of new upper struts and shocks for the front. Fountain Tire checked it out, and said everything was fine..

Recently, I took it back to NL, to get the idle adjusted down to where it USED to be. Again, after doing that work, NL said I also needed an additional $1000 worth of work done:
    -new spark plugs
    -new spark plug wires
    -new valve cover gasket
    -new timing belt
    -flush brake fluid

I left my Jetta with Fountain Tire today, and after checking everything out, the only thing they will be doing, is flushing the brake fluid... The rest of the work DOESN'T need to be done... (valve cover bolts were loose, so those were tightened down)

    I shake my head....

This is on your MK2 jetta right? Man if that car it running right there is no way s $1000 worth of work should ever be done to it. Plus plugs and wires are what maybe a $100 in parts and 15 minutes to change?

      Brent:

      That is correct!!! '88 Jetta..

I've had some hefty bills at NL, in the 17 years I did take my car there. Makes me wonder just how much total I have been overcharged. Probably better that I don't know... Timing belt was est. at $488, all other things were between $100-$200 each..

ugghhh that place pisses me off to NO end. they overcharge, and make up bogus things that need fixing. The guy was trying to tell me my timing chains needed to be done once because "they are making noise".
Now i KNOW what the sound is when they start to go and my car isnt near there, and ALL timing chains make noise, its normal. its the marbles in a can noise thats the bad one. But they wanted $2000 to change them

Meh, they are all the same.

Tuesday marks the 1 month and 2 week intervals between when the SCFC service manager promised to get back to me regarding my AC. The initial call was a month ago, followed up with a message 2 weeks later and no response.

Tuesday the ***** machine starts and I'm going up the chain.

I take offence to that as I try my best to make sure all my customers are taken care of to the best of my abilites. It really annoys me when people come in with a bad additude and expect me to treat them like gold. I will always be as friendly as I can with people but if you are going to be a jerk to me right off the hop, I'm not going ot bend over backwards to make sure you get what you want. A little common courtesy can go a long ways.

That may be the case that you do your best but you are just one. I am impeccably well mannered and polite the first or even second point of contact. The case that you may be different does not invalidate the common general experience.

I have been to each dealership in the city and have had to go back to have fixes fixed, warranty work refunded when it should not have been charged in the first place, or to have things like the techs oily handprints cleaned off the headliner and interior.

I will say that when Dave has worked on my car I have been pleased with the result. Other facets of his dealership, not so much.
