  • Re: Watch Aficionados?

The watch is big and very aircraft based I am very happy with it. It is a bit big to put under dress shirt cuffs so will be more a casual based watch, put my Tag back on today and boy does it feel small!

Depends were you are Ryan, I here Thailand (only spent a little time in Phuket and did not shop) is stupid cheap but have to be more aware of fakes. Malaysia was great very reasonable and still lots of high end products and selection, ever mall has a Burberry, Gucci, LV etc. Singapore is pretty pricey but still tons of stuff to choose from and Hong Kong was actually cheaper then I expected, wish I had more time as there are some 10+ story malls there.

Nice to see there are other guys out there with a car & watch obsession/sickness. Here is a bad photo of what is on my bathroom counter. My Breitling is not there because it is always broken and i am not going to have it fixed again.

        Back to life...

Any watch people rocking a winder, I am probably going to pick one up as I cannot keep both my watches going with out help. The only problem is most of the nice ones are crazy money, so may have to be Ebay special!

Kind of like this, but still $400

Was at the mall downtown yesterday and ended up going by Birks and in the window I spotted a Ferrari Panerai watch so I had to go check it out, and they are now an authorized dealer. They only had the Ferrari watches but are hoping to have a catalogue and ability to order regular Panerai's soon!! This makes me excited as I think a Panerai would be my next choice of watch, if I had a few spare stacks

          A Ferrari watch

          A nice Luminor Marina Panerai

wow blair, what other serious car enthusiasts may spend on their hobby, seems to be matched by your affinity for watches. not a knock, just an observation. Lol, i have only one watch. I'm sure if I had the means, I'd have more tho.

I think the Panerai's are very nice, quality watches too. I saw a 10 day power reserve in Asia, was amazing but mad money.

Nice watches are not cheap for sure, but in theory they can last forever so might be a better use of money then cars and modding, but I hope to get a few more but will probably be a couple years till I make another large acquisition.

Quick question for you guys. I'm looking to pick up a new watch for myself as a birthday gift. Does anyone know of or have any experience with the site www.jacobtime.com? I'm looking at picking up a Wittnauer watch and it seems they've got Canadian shipping and decent prices (not too cheap or too expensive). Since the few places in town that are authorized are asking more than double the price they're offering. I hate buying online, but the price discrepancy is just so damn wide.

                    Thanks!

Buying online can be the best deal on watches by far but the big thing to look out for is fakes and warranties, but in cheaper watches the risk is lower.

And a couple of my fav watches at the moment, serious coin though...

Which Wittnauer are you looking at? I'm curious what a ceramic watch feels like. Not a fan of Quartz movements though.

Not being on baller status.... I got a few 'A' fakes from China.. a nice B&R, and a Panerai that broke several days later. The B&R is still going strong though....

I'm looking at either the 12D03 (I know someone posted up a picture of it ages ago) or the 12D005 to replace my current Bulova 96G46. As for the difference between movements, I honestly don't know enough about different types of movements to tell the difference. Yet.

I was able to put on the 12E20 both earlier today and also when I was in NYC in September. Both times it felt fantastic, I just don't like how many diamonds are on the face of that particular model. I'm always a little wary if I'm purchasing online, it's just that there are times when the logistics are there. This is one of those cases. I could snag the 12D03 for just over $500 online, while the stock price in stores is around $1,100 - $1,200.

Also, Kor any elaboration on why you dislike Quartz movement?
