Bending Sparco seat slider handle. How?

I'm in the middle of finally installing my sparco torino's into my MK3 with the appropriate sparco bases with sliders. Problem is the slider lever that would be between your legs just under the seat, which you would pull up on to allow the seat to slide doesn't seem to have enough clearance from the bottom of the seat, and therefore you can't really pull it up.
Its basically half of a metal hoop that attaches to the slider brackets into each end of it.
I need to figure out a way to bend this to get a little more angle to it so i can get some more clearance but cant figure out how i should go about doing this. As you can see its flat on the pieces of paper, i need the bend to occur 4cm into the "hoop" on those two parallel straight bits just basically where the angle begins. need to bend it basically 2" from flush.





I'd like to get a even bend and not distort the shape the metal too much if possible.

Any ideas?

its worth mentioning the metal is fairly solid and due to the inside diameter being so small i cant find anything i can insert into it and gain the leverage needed without the other rod itself bending just due to being so small.

i have a heat gun and will be heating it up, i just need a way to get something in those that is long enough and strong enough that i can bend the whole piece

how about a set of hand tube benders? looks about half an inch diameter there. i've got a set of benders that just might do the trick.

Are you sure you pull it up? On my buddies racing seats, you push the bar down, which was a little confusing at first.

If you do need to bend it, you can fill the tube with sand, or a material called Cerrobend, which is like lead (but not) with a really low melting point (about 100 deg. C). That will help keep it from crushing as it bends, and you just heat the tube to get the stuff out when the bend is done. I have some if you need.

Doubt you could get it hot enough to easily bend with just a heat gun, plus it may still crush.

Why not just take it to a metal shop where they have a metal bender like a Hossfeld and just ask them to do it for you? That way you won't f*ck it up.

just get a tubing bender for bending aluminum electrical tubing.

I've used mine for steel tubing too, they come in a couple different sizes. If i was closer I would let you use mine! But im not!

you know/recommend anywhere? im sure they would do it for a case of beer, so take only a few minutes to do both of them

When I was a student I would have gone to the UofC engineering building metals shop. But won't work for non-students.

Yellow pages, call metals shops?
