  • Question for those who have removed seats with airbags...

Just wondering what precautions have to be made when removing a seat with airbags. I may have to remove a seat in the Volvo and wondering can you just remove the fuse and/or disconnect the battery and you're good or what?

I've posted on a volvo forum also so we'll see what I get there but I know some of you have removed your seats on your VW's

    Thanks.

I've removed the steering wheel one, I disconnected the battery to be safe. You should be good if you do so.

Remove the battery will do it but I like to wait another 10 mins or so just in case.

i did my recaro install this past weekend, actually battery was connected until we started putting the seats in, lol forgot to unplug it. so i did before i installed the new seats. for the euro recaros i also had to mess with the airbag wiring cause the connectors are different.

That is what I was thinking but stray capacitance can be a ***** lol but you are right if you ground yourself before hand you will be fine.

i wouldn't worry, its pretty hard to set off airbags, they need a good 12V source.
