Getting a Home Alarm - Need advice

So, we're looking at getting an alarm for our new house. I know to stay away from Alarm Force, but outside of that who do you recommend? Good, bad experiences? What should I be looking to spend for the system? for monitoring? I am totally outside my element on this...any advice is very much appreciated!!!

I've got Securetek in my house and havn't had any problems with them. Been with them for a good 5 years. I think the monthly is around $20 or $25.

Did you get the sensor wires installed by the house builder early on? did they forget to leave them hanging out. if you did and they boarded them in be sure to get the exact locations of them off the builder before the alarm guys come in or theyll proceed to hammer holes in your walls until they find em then not come back to fill em in saying its not their problem you should have had them exposed! very annoying. ill try and recall who the company was.
