Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the Concept IAA at the international Frankfurt automobile meeting wearing the same name – the 2015 IAA.
The study is serving as a preview for the next generation luxury models of the German manufacturer, including the next S-Class and CLS. The design is focused on “world-beating aerodynamics”, which results in a drag coefficient of only 0.19. This figure has been achieved thanks to active electric aero panels at the front and the back, boosting the machine’s length by 390 mm.
The interior of the Intelligent Aerodynamic Car features an innovative layout with four separate seats and familiar configuration of the dashboard with four round center air vents and a big display. There are also a gesture control pads and two additional screens – one for the live engine data and another one for the climate control.
Power comes from a petrol-electric hybrid system that generates 274 bhp. This power is enough to accelerate the vehicle up to 250 km/h (155 mph), while CO2 emissions are claimed to be only 28 g/km in the most efficient mode. All-electric range is said to be up to 32 km (20 miles).
