Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the Concept Coupe SUV at Beijing Motor Show, after several images were leaked onto the web yesterday.
Signaling an imminent arrival of a BMW X6 competitor, Mercedes-Benz's Concept Coupe SUV is described as being as "sensual as a coupe – visionary as an SUV." It has a very low roof as the concept has a height of just 1.75 meters and has an aggressive appearance due to its two meters width and an almost five meter length. As expected on a concept, it was fitted with oversized 22-inch alloys shod in 305/45 R22 tires.
The overall shape of the body shows lots of similarities with the X6 and the body has been painted in Alu Beam, as a throwback to the 30s and 50s Silver Arrows. All-LED Multibeam headlights were fitted along with a permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive system working with a nine-speed automatic transmission with torque convertor lock-up.
Power comes from a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine rated at 333 PS (245 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque available between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm. The concept uses a double wishbone front combined with a multi-link rear setup and benefits from an air suspension with selective damping and an Active Curve System as seen on the S-Class Coupe.
For the moment Mercedes-Benz says the Concept Coupe SUV is only a study but a production model should arrive towards the end of the year or in 2015.
