At the beginning of last month we talked about Porsche’s intention of bringing to the Paris Motor Show a Panamera-inspired concept wagon and now we have the real deal. It’s called the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept and aims to be a rival for the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, while adopting the styling we’ll see in the new generation of the Panamera.

Noticing the “e-Hybrid” badge on the front door, chances are that Porsche plans a plug-in hybrid variant for the second-gen Panamera. The attractive headlights are not entirely new, as we’ve seen a similar design in recent models wearing the Porsche badge, such as the 918 Spyder and the new Boxster.

Porsche has taken the wraps off the Panamera Sport Turismo concept.

Designed to preview the company's future styling language, the model has a clean and elegant design which is both practical and attractive. It is dressed in Liquid Metal Blue paint and features LED headlights, ventilated front fenders and a carbon rear spoiler. Overall, it measures 4,950mm long, 1,990mm wide and 1,401mm tall.

The minimalistic cabin has a pleasing design which incorporates leather upholstery, Alcantara trim and metallic accents. There's also a digital instrument cluster which is flanked by displays for the exterior ‘mirror' cameras. Last but not least, there's a large infotainment display on the center console which has quick access buttons for commonly used functions.

Motivation is provided by a plug-in hybrid powertrian that combines a 333 HP (245 kW) supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, a 95 HP (70 kW) electric motor and a 9.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. This enables the concept to have a combined maximum output of 416 HP (306 kW) which enables it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than six seconds. In terms of efficiency, the model consumes less than 3.5 L/100km (67.2 mpg US / 80.7 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions under 82 g/km. The concept can also travel on electricity alone for over 30 km (18.6 miles) at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph).

First time I've ever thought a Panamera looks good. Such an improvement over the previous one!
