Mercedes has officially unveiled the CLS Shooting Brake.
Described as an "unprecedented version of a sports car with five seats and a large tailgate," the model has a sporty design which borrows a few cues from the 2010 Shooting Brake concept. Notable highlights include LED headlights, a sloping roofline and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.
The cabin echoes the standard model and features leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic accents. The boot holds 590-1550 liters (20.8-54.7 cubic feet) of luggage and can be equipped with a designo wooden floor that features cherry and oak trim as well as aluminum load rails.
Under the hood, four different engines are available. The CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY has a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph).
Likewise, the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY uses a 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 265 PS (195 kW / 261 hp) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the wagon to dash to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
On the petrol side, the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY has a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and top out at 250 km/h (155 mph).
Lastly, the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY features a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 408 PS (300 kW / 402 hp) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the model to run from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
