After years of speculation, Porsche has officially green-lighted the entry-level Cajun crossover.

Designed to attract new and younger customers, the Cajun will be an "efficient and sporty model" with "typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility." Furthermore, the crossover will be based on the Audi Q5 and feature styling influenced by VW design boss Walter de' Silva.

The Cajun is expected to be launched in 2014 and will compete with the Mercedes GLK, BMW X3, and Land Rover Evoque.

i wasnt THAT impressed with any cayenne. i expect this to be in the same category.

x6 and x5m twin turbo v8s are next in line or next to now IMO..

I think you probably didn't.

well ive driven a few of them.
loved the power, just not the interior, nor the transmission.

ours had some bad issues, power steering went twice, tq converter went..
all with 80,000kms, we just didnt like it.

we traded it in for a new ML bluetec.
its better in every way possible.

Latest info is that this car is now officially called the Macan and here are some engine details:

New details are starting to emerge about the Porsche Macan.

The entry-level model is expected to use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 220 hp (164 kW / 223 PS). It should enable the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph).

If that isn't powerful enough, the Macan S is slated to feature a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine with 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS).

On the diesel side, there will reportedly be a 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) 2.0-liter TDI and a 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) 3.0-liter V6.

The Turbo variant is expected to use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine with approximately 370 hp (276 kW / 375 PS) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque.

Later on, the company could introduce a hybrid with a 208 hp (155 kW / 211 PS) turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and a 54 hp (40 kW / 55 PS) electric motor. We could also see an Audi-sourced twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 309 hp (230 kW / 313 PS).

Besides having an extensive engine lineup, the Macan is expected to ride on the MLB platform and feature a unique electro-mechanical power steering system as well as Porsche-specific spring and damper rates. The crossover could also have a unique all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring for improved handling.

I wonder, is that the Audi 2.0T? Cause AFAIK there is no such thing as a Porche 2.0L turbo.

If the V6 is the Boxster/Cayman engine honestly I think the car will be too heavy for it... the engine also isn't very good on Torque which you will really miss in this car.

My prediction comes true with the turbo though, that will destroy anything in this class...

Any thoughts on cost for the Turbo? sub-$80,000'ish maybe? I see a fully spec'ed out Q5 and X3 are in the $60,000 CAD range.
