So I figured I'd post this up quick for anyone having the same issue. The folk's 97 Boxster was starting really rough on cold starts. It would run piss rich for about 2 minutes and then suddenly go back to normal. Long story short, it looks to have been the coolant temp sensor. Swapped a new one in and $40 later it hasn't done it since. Hope this helps if anyone else is having a similar issue.
