  • Official Jaguar F-Pace

It was a painstakingly long teasing game, but the Jaguar F-PACE is finally here in production guise.

Billed as the "ultimate practical sportscar", the F-PACE performance crossover is basically an evolution of the C-X17 concept and it has just about the same exterior design, albeit toned down a bit as expected on a production car. It rides on the same aluminum-intensive platform as the XE and XF sedans and is 4,731 mm long, with a generous 2,874 mm wheelbase and a massive 650-liter trunk capacity.

On the inside there's room for five people sitting "absolute comfort" thanks to plenty of head and knee room. It has a 10.2-inch touchscreen display part of the infotainment system powered by a quad core processor and running on a solid state drive (SSD). You can connect up to eight devices thanks to the hot-spot WiFi support while the sat-nav system can be displayed in the 12.3-inch instrument cluster which boasts a 3D mode.

Moving on to engines, customers will have to choose from the following units: 180 PS 2.0-liter diesel manual RWD/AWD and automatic AWD; 240 PS 2.0-liter petrol automatic RWD; 300 PS 3.0-liter diesel automatic AWD; 340 PS and 380 PS 3.0-liter petrol automatic AWD. The latter will run the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 5.1 seconds and top out at an electronically-capped 155 mph (250 km/h).

If you are wondering how much it weighs, the 180 PS diesel in RWD guise tips the scales at 1,665 kg (3,670 lbs). Other goodies on the menu include full LED headlights, massive 22-inch alloy wheels and the Jaguar Activity Key which is a waterproof and shockproof wristband featuring a built-in transponder.

Upon launch, the Jaguar F-PACE will be available in the following versions: Pure, Prestige, Portfolio, R-Sport, S and First Edition.
