Kahn Land Rover Defender Flying Huntsman
After last week's announcement, the six-wheeled Land Rover Defender by Kahn Design has received its world premiere in Geneva.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 is reportedly heading out of production but have no fear as Kahn Design has a solution for those in need of an ultimate off-roader with six wheels. It's called the "Huntsman" and is based on the legendary Land Rover Defender but carries a 400mm longer hood while the rear cabin has been stretched by 1000mm. Moreover, the car is now 150mm wider and at an additional cost it can even receive armor plating.
Underneath the elongated hood resides a 6.2-liter V8 LS3 engine which generates 430 bhp (320 kW) channeled to the road with help from a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Huntsman also comes with a hi-lo ratio drive system with locking differentials while the suspension and braking systems have been updated to cope with the added mass.
Production is being considered and if green-lighted, Kahn Design says the heavily modified three-axle Defender will cost around £150,000 (about €207,100) which would make it a real bargain compared to the €456,900 2015 G63 AMG 6x6.
