  • McLaren 675LT

The McLaren 675LT has received an early reveal ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show where it will bring its long tail body reminiscent of the 1997 F1 GTR Long Tail. McLaren has already announced power will come from an uprated twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine with more than 50 percent new parts granting an output of 675 HP & 700 Nm, making it 25 HP & 22 Nm more powerful than the 650S Coupe.

Aside from packing more muscle, the 675LT is also significantly lighter as McLaren’s engineers were able to shave off 100 kg (220 lbs) so now the car has a dry weight of 1,230 kg (2,711 lbs). The more power less weight combo has slashed 0.1s from the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint time which now takes 2.9 seconds. Moreover, hitting 124 mph (200 km/h) from a standstill takes 7.9 seconds (-0.5s) while top speed stands at 205 mph (330 km/h), representing a 2 mph (3.2 km/h) decrease.

The 675LT will be available with four new exterior paints called Chicane Grey, Delta Red, Silica White and Napier Green which will be offered alongside the Heritage McLaren Orange. On the inside it gets ultra lightweight carbon fiber-shelled bucket seats wrapped in Alcantara with a "675LT" logo on the headrests. McLaren has incorporated the air conditioning controls in the touchscreen infotainment system while the rev counter has gained an "675LT" logo.

              Re: McLaren 675LT

McLaren has officially unveiled the new 675LT Spider following a leak earlier today.

Created in response to "significant customer demand," the 675LT Spider follows in the footsteps of the 675LT Coupe and features a sportier exterior with a larger front splitter, new side skirts, and an active Longtail airbrake that is 50 percent larger than other Super Series models. The high-performance convertible also has a titanium dual exhaust system and unique 19- / 20-inch ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels with special P Zero Trofeo R tires. Of course, the car's defining characteristic is the retractable folding hardtop which can be opened at speeds up to 30 km/h (19 mph).

The lightweight theme continues in the cabin as the model has been equipped with lightweight carbon fiber-shelled racing seats that are covered in leather and feature 675LT embossing. The car's air conditioning system has also been removed but it can be ordered as a no-cost-option if you don't mind adding an additional 16 kg (35.2 lbs) of weight to the car.

Power is provided by a "heavily revised" twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that features new turbochargers, revised cylinder heads and modified exhaust manifolds. The engine also has a new crankshaft, lightweight connecting rods and a high-flow fuel pump. Thanks to these modifications, the engine develops 675 PS (666 bhp / 496 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque - 25 PS (24 bhp / 18 kW) and 22 Nm (16 lb-ft) more than the 650S Spider.

The extra power doesn't sound like much but it enables the 1,270 kg (2,800 lbs) convertible to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 8.1 seconds. Given enough room, the 675LT Spider will eventually hit a top speed of 326km/h (203mph).
To keep things under control, the car has been equipped with a sport-tuned suspension which features stiffer springs and a wider track.

Production will be limited to 500 units and pricing starts at ÂŁ285,450. The first deliveries are scheduled for the summer of 2016 and potential customers better act quick as the 675LT Coupe sold out in a couple of months.

                        Re: McLaren 675LT

Just when you thought it could not get any better...

McLaren Special Operations took the wraps off a carbon-clad P1 earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show and now the 675LT Spider is receiving just about the same treatment. It features approximately 40 percent more carbon fiber parts over the regular 675LT Spider, but these new lighter body components can’t be retro-fitted to one of the 500 units of the regular long-tailed, open-top 675. That’s because MSO also had to make other changes for the new limited-run special edition, so the new parts are not compatible with the regular model.

All carbon fiber parts of the standard 675LT Spider have received a glossy finish to better show off the weave of the material. In addition, the electrically-retractable roof and tonneau are now dipped in carbon fiber, just like the A-pillars, side blades, hood, and rear deck. Moreover, McLaren’s MSO division has created bespoke carbon fiber front and rear wings and even a new fuel filler cap which has also received the carbon fiber treatment. To make it even more special, the front wings have received functional louvers in the same vein as the 650S GT3.

Power comes from the same biturbo 3.8-liter V8 engine developing a devilish 666 horsepower (497 kW) and 516 pound-feet (700 newton meters) of torque. It’s enough muscle to enable the MSO Carbon Series LT run to 62 mph (100 kph) in 2.9 seconds and max out at 203 mph (326 kph).

Limited to just 25 units, the MSO Carbon Series LT has already reached sold out status and production is slated to come this fall, with deliveries programmed to kick off before the year’s end. All cars will come as standard with the McLaren Track Telemetry Pack featuring three track cameras to grab all the action.
