Bentley will use the 2012 Detroit Auto Show to unveil their latest model. The 2013 Bentley Contintental GT & GTC V8 engine will slot into their line-up below the flagship 6.0 litre W12 GT & GTC models.
It delivers maximum power of 500bhp (507 PS / 373 kW) at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 660Nm (487 lb ft). Coupled with the a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission and its new all-wheel drive system, the new V8 models can accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in under 5 seconds and has a top speed of 180mph (290kph).
The 4.0 liter direct injection twin-turbo engine also comes with an impressive variable displacement engine management system which can transition the V8 down to a V4 mode under light throttle load.
No official details have been released on fuel economy and emission figures, but Bentley informs us there is a 40 percent reduction compared to the W12 model.
Exterior stylings distinguishing the V8 models include glossy black grille with chrome frame and centre bar, a red enamel Bentley ‘B’ badge, and a black mesh three-segment front bumper fascia. At the rear, there are chrome ‘figure eight’ exhaust tailpipes, a dark lower valance and red enamel ‘B’ bootlid badge.
Interior alsos receives some changes in the form of Eliade cloth headlining, Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus veneers, optional two-tone leather and short center console.
