Renault has taken the wraps off the new Captur concept, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Described as "simple, sensuous and warm", the Captur continues the design theme that was first shown on the DeZir concept. Notable features include a hard convertible roof, LED lighting units, matt-finished accents, and 22-inch wheels.
Inside, the cabin is "restrained and pure" without any superfluous equipment. Despite this, there are floating front seats, a translucent dashboard, aluminum pedals, and plenty of string accents. According to interior designer, Magali Gouraud-Borgers, "The whole of the interior is designed around this network of stretched elastic ropes which bring to mind the worlds of sailing or mountain climbing. They use graphics and light to bring rhythm to the overall design and reinforce the dynamic feel of the vehicle while also ensuring a lighter feel inside the cabin."
Power is provided by a twin-turbo Energy dCi 160 engine that produces 160 PS (118 kW / 158 hp) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a dual-clutch EDC transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 131 mph.
