    Re: Yum.. Cosworth

Whooooaaaaaaaa!!! Nice ride, very nice indeed.

I love the Sierra. I always see a white one parked up by that window tinting place on Mcleod Trail.

I just had a bog standard 3dr 1.8 Zetec Focus back home. There is a story behind it.
A few years before I bought it. I went to see my girlfriend up in Norwich. So I rented a car. They gave me a blue Focus 1.8. 3dr. I thought great, car rental company gives me a shitty Ford. So I had the car for four days, driving up on Motorways(freeways), A roads and country lanes. At the end of the four days I could not find anything to fault in the car. Gear box was a joy, steering and handling was great. I was very impressed by how far they had come.....So I er....bought one.

I had a look at some of the Fords here when I moved over... but I was amazed by how bad they were. I don't get it. Ford could really dominate the market here if they re-produced some of what they have back in Europe....

What size engine is in that Focus of yours...?

thanx man, always nice to receive compliments .. i've always been a uk ford fan ever since i saw my first xr4ti/sierra when i was 12 years old. i wanted one for ever, and the one i bought was in real rough shape. but lots of love and it's happy now.

i can't remember who the guy was, but ford in north america hired some ex ceo from another company to rebuild their image here. the guy shook his head in an interview and said the focus name in north america has been tarnished and can never be repaired.

it's very true. my svt is actually an ST170 back in europe. ford wanted to test the waters for a performance version of the focus in north america. so they brought over a few thousand st170's. sadly, poor marketting and the crappy image of the regular focus killed the SVT/ST170 over here. so not many were sold.

the SVT Focus is an entirely different car then the regular focus, and not many people are aware. even the engine is in a different spot... interior is different. suspension is different. body is different. brakes are different. u get the point

my svtf has the 2 Litre Duratec-ST motor. not to be confused with the Focus-ST Duratec, entirely different beast.

My uncle used to have an old Ford Sierra back in Germany, and I remember that car being a blast. My dad took it up to 220 on the autobahn without a problem. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for those cars!

DJ, your SVT is f*ckin sexy!!! My brother has a focus ZX3, and as crappy as the car may be in general, we still love the look of it. If only we had the European quality for it here, it would be a whole different story. What kinda numbers are you puttin down with that SVT??? you MUST bring it out to a meet sometime this summer!!!

Well since this has become a ford thread, I'm kind of excited to see then focus coming here in a few months as well as the Fiesta. A well equipped fiesta can be had for around 15,000 which I could see trading out the Echo for once they come out.

I was talking to a track day guy yesterday who had the new SHO out to a track recently he had some good stories.

Oh, but stock for stock a G60 Corrado is faster then a XR4Ti

Not sure how I'm going to get back in to a Euro car, I can't seem to find any we like at the moment.

Actually a friend of mine back home is looking for a old car project. He's torn between a old school 6 series, e30 sport or sapphire cosworth.......
