I really wanted an SVT Focus for a daily a couple years ago but I found out the 4 door version had a 2 star side impact rating which made me a little nervous.

I still really like them though.

Edit: They are getting harder and harder to find and seems dealers are picking them up and charging way too much for them.

yah, and parts aren't cheap. the engine was designed and built by cosworth, so u gotta order every part from germany. they come stamped with cosworth logos though, so that's cool

my svtf is known for being one of the most modded, even in the st170 world. i built mine and 2 others that are in canada. it is a real fun car to work with! it gets a lot of looks. too bad i wasn't coming to the meeting on thurs, i'd drive it.

AHH you bum, you should come out. I want to see your S4...... or the SVTF again. Guys I have been in this car (the SVTF) and it's a hoot and very quick. I dare any one in the club try to beat it from stop light to stop light.

How would your S4 do against it? I assume with the AWD it wouldnt be much of a competition from light to light....maybe 3 lights in a row the SVT would come through?

when whitespy was last in my car, i had a 10.2:1 compression ratio with 10 psi. i'm now running 20 psi @ 9.4:1 with the gt25r-450 garret turbo. forged internals, flow ported. under the bonnet it's entirely a 100% custom everything, including wiring harnesses, sensors, pulleys, belt, valves, pipes, etc etc etc etc... might as well be a dune buggy for how custom it is.

it's putting down about the same power as the s4 but a lot lighter. and it's a very different kind of power. the s4s gearing, weight and awd put a lot of load on the engine so the acceleration is very linear and smooth, as u know.

but in the svtf its a raw, loud, uncontrollable ammount of power. it's actually stupid. i spent 6 years building 4 engines to get a reliable high powered 4 cylinder. and as difficult as that was, i made one huge mistake. front wheel drive cars are a waste of time to build!!!

i had this dream of the awd uk kit, but that requires me to dump the cosworth engine and go with the i-4 zetec :( .. not a chance!

the front wheels just spin in almost any gear. it's quite embarassing really. my boost controller gets used a lot. on the street i run 10-15 psi (Depends on my speed) just to keep the car from sliding all over the road.

it's too bad i have to babysit tomorrow night. i would love to show you guys the bonnet of a real euro ford it's very different inside and out from the shitbox north american focus
