    Re: Project: Coal and Fire

Not having any luck here, hit a ridiculous road dip/bump at the train tracks at 50km/h. Car sustained some damage...

      Major bummer.

Take good pics of the damage and the location, submit to the city/county and see if you can get a refund.

        Re: Project: Coal and Fire

Big thanks to Colin at Calgary Autowerks, got me in super fast this morning and took a look. Seems like the body panel, rim curbage and bumper damage was the worst of it.
Mechanically the car is sound, and the wheel is not bent. Once again lucky in my misfortune.

I contacted the Foothills MD and told them they had to fix it. I'd suggest if any of you guys are coming through highway 552 (google says its 226 ave W), beware the first train track crossing!

No updates in a while - it was winter - but I have gotten some parts recently and will be installing as soon as I get a chance!

I didn't do the welding myself, I'm not that talented and wanted it done right.

I had a friend who owns a bodyshop do it.

Looks nice! There's a GTI and R bumper for sale on Craigslist fyi. Did you know that little shopping mall near your place has a car meet every Saturday night at like 8pm?

I did know about the meet but thanks for the reminder, I should really go.

The guy selling the GTI/R bumpers wants $350-$400 for them, they're damaged and it's only the shell. I did message him offering $250 for the GTI shell but he told me to go f**** myself so he's not open to negotiations lol.

I really wanted to upgrade the lights to aftermarket ones because I felt the OEM halogen don't throw enough light on the road - without high beams.

Did the MK7 TDI recall software update, unfortunate that my tune is gone, I can feel a big difference.
I'll be bringing the car in to Malone in a few weeks see what exactly they changed.

Now I'm searching for for summer wheels&rubber.
