  • Freshing her up

Haven't been on here in a while, but figured since I have been doing some work on the old golf, it's about time that I was.

Had this idea in my head for a year or so now and I finally got to try it out. Really enjoyed doing this.

Is that plastidip? Looks cool, love the blue that you have on there too.

Yep, that's dip. The blue is what I'm trying to protect until I can do a full respray, though if I can find a dip equivalent to Porsche's sapphire blue, I'll use that instead.

Sorry but that looks terrible. Luckily its easily reversible!

wow, some of you guys can be dicks.

I don't think it looks bad at all, and, ITS SERVING A PURPOSE, which is to protect until the full respray is done.

If its getting a full respray anyways what's the point in protecting it?

Im not a fan of the black up the hood/roof/trunk at all. Maybe ide like it more if you just did a stripe or two offset instead. Would have been more tasteful imo.

I always hear guys say "oh it's just until it gets resprayed" and then they never respray it.

It reminds me of the original vw two tone paints.
Nothing wrong with doing something that is "classic".

The car doesn't belong to you guys.

You seem to be pretty defensive over this whole idea eh? Were you involved in any way/shape/form in this dip job?

Dan is completely accurate when he states "always hear guys say "oh it's just until it gets resprayed" and then they never respray it". I have heard it plenty of times before, and either the car gets sold, wrecked, or the dip is still on there 3 years later, or they peel it off and spray it again, and then again a different color, with none of them looking as good as it did originally.

                      OP,
A black hood/front bumper would not be bad at all, if you had kept the entire rear and grill area blue that is and kept a stock grill. But the way it has been proportioned is wrong and would bug my OCD if I was looking at it every day.

Nothing at all to do with it or the op.

I take offense that a guy posts his hard work and people here **** all over it. Some of you longtime posters are not the be-all/end-all of car modifications and in my opinion, are extremely opinionated when this board is not about 'your' tastes.

I'm sure the op didn't do all the work and then post pictures of it just to hear you squawk negatively about what you prefer, based on your own ocd tendencies. Why the **** is that even a consideration to the op?

And to the respray comments, again I say, so what?

How does that action affect your life in any way?

Jesus the hubris here is strong.

Almost makes people not want to get involved or, heaven forbid, post pics of something they work ready hard at, whatever THEIR OWN REASONS are.

Buddy, it's a forum. Opinions are going to be shared whether its positive or negative. And some of us gave suggestions or somewhat constructive comments to go along with what our opinion was. Not everybody is going to like what he did.

I get people on the internet shitting all over my vinyl work because it may not have been done "professionally" or it doesn't look good in some people's eyes. Who cares, Get over it. If he likes it great, to each their own that's what matters. But People need to stop getting so butthurt over a few negative internet comments.
