The oz ones look great, paint them gun metal or something and get bigger tires

Hey Scott, just a thought. Maybe double check they got all the strut pucks out from the suspension?
I know it hasn't settled in yet... But it seems a little high.
And you should think about painting those wheels in matt black? To match the rest of the details on the car?
I went with a set of VMR V710s in matte black and it looks great!

I concur, looks great. I'm also looking to get a spare tire for my MK7. Was there a reason you went with the S3 spare vs a 18" spare from a vw?

Yeah they would definitely have to be darker colour. My only concern with paining them is losing the writing that's sort of around the lugs. I don't think they're just stickers, so I'm not sure how to go about that.

I was going to check for the strut pucks the other night but forgot. I'm 99% sure they took them out though because the ride is smooth.
I don't mind dark wheels, but I wouldn't do black wheels. I'm hoping I'll be able to find a used set of HREs or something for a good price to change things up a little.

All of the 18" VW spares that I know of are full size, so there wouldn't be room for one under the floor. Everyone on the R forums does the S3 spare since it fits perfectly and the subwoofer is designed to fit in it. I knew it would work and I found one locally, so that was pretty much the deciding factor.

What about a tint on the wheels, sort of like tinting tails, it can easily be done at a body shop. That way you can still keep the logos, which are indeed painted on. Or you can just take some good photos and have either decals(as a stick on logo), or photoshop it quickly into a masking template and print four of those decals then paint on the logo.

I could replicate some stickers for you Scott if you decide to have the wheels painted.

Hmmm, I'll have to look into that. I'm still undecided if I want to stick with these or change it up though, since I've had these wheels for 4 years now.

Cool, if I decide to keep these then I'll probably take you up on that!

I'd probably do 245/35R19 unless I took the tires off of the stock wheels. The ones on the OZs right now are way too small.

Totally missed this before - PM coming shortly!

Got a package in the mail today - basically brand new JB1 unit. I'm getting close to 1000km, so I'll likely install it in the next few days but leave it on the stock map until the break-in is done.

Haha well I ended up going for a drive last night and then hit 1000km on the way home today. I decided to install it when I got home and then took it for a drive, but probably not far enough for it to fully adapt yet.

Initial impressions are holy crap is this thing ever quick now! I dug up numbers for another otherwise stock UK-spec Golf R that was dyno'd both stock and then with the JB1 set for 94 octane - gains on that car were 57 bhp and 74 ft-lb, or 357 bhp and 378 ft-lb!
