Re: I have an addiction. numerous projects and toys involved.
Update!!!!! Ok, So, over the holidays, I have been in Chad, Africa working in the 40 degree heat, Didn't really feel like Christmas. BUT When I get home, I will have a very special Christmas/Bday celebration (I turned 35 on December 24).
I have been ordering all of the internet!!! Like, ALL OF THE INTERNET haha, My mom (The saint she is) has been texting me daily that packages have been arriving. I have ordered numerous storage items for my garage, and CAR PARTS!!! whoop whoop.
SO, For the Mk1 Caddy, Here is the list of items I have procured.
-3" drop plates and air shocks
-Floor pans
-turbo setup so I can get that diesel to move out of its own way haha.
-new headlights
-10" slim kicker subwoofer
and I have a hoard of parts kicking around to help with the project,
Seats, 4 round grille(Rare aftermarket item, Nothelle if I remember correctly0
Duckbill spoiler
NOS hella fogs
FK lowering springs on Bilsteins
Zimmerman cross drilled rotors and stoptech pads
shifter rebuild kit with short throw, and a shifter extender so my back wont hurt from reaching for the damn thing.
misc old school car audio.
Misc road signs to use as patch panels for the box haha.
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head for the Caddy.
And for the Fox body.
Here is the updated list for the car, It should be a riot. A crazy dude from one of the mustang forums has the same engine setup as me, I mean THE SAME, but his is an auto, and he was consistent 9.8's in the 1/4, he recently stepped up to a 76mm turbo and has now hit 9.34 and dynoed at just shy of 650whp and 690wtq. I have told myselft that I am going to stop at 10psi or 535whp and 555wtq, whichever comes first. And my car is going to be a cruiser, not solely a drag car. SO if I get kicked off the track for not having a cage, that will be fast enough for me haha.

Re: I have an addiction. numerous projects and toys involved.
Here is the kamei wheel for the Mustang
and The wheels on the left are going on the mustang, they are speed star (SSR) 3 piece 17" staggered, the fronts are 8" wide and weigh 17.4 pounds the rears are 8.5" wide and weigh 18 pounds each. They are are wheel works, my buddy Darren runs the place and he is machining the lips and I will media blast and spray the centres, not sure what colour yet. And the Volk Meshie wheels or the Schmidt Reps will make their way onto the caddy. Depending on which suit it better when it is all done.
Re: I have an addiction. numerous projects and toys involved.
On my last rotation home, I succeeded in re arranging my garage so all of my tools fit, have a place, and there is room to work on cars now too. Thank sweet baby jesus. So as soon as that was done, I got some time to work on the caddy.
-First thing I did was retorque the head bolts on the turbo diesel, I was worried that I would eventually run into problems once I put a 3" downpipe on and turned up the boost a bit. I also did the maintenance items and retimed the poor thing, it was way out. Did the good ol hole saw the filter housing trick!! yup, apparently I'm still 16 at heart and wanted to hear the induction/turbo noise haha.
-Next up, I realigned the front end, whomever did the front end swap didnt do a bad job, they just didnt finish it up completely and left large gaps and panels loose. I took this time to also replace the clear angel eyes, (I loath them) and installed some fluted, smoked cross hairs. I added a vinyl stripe to the euro bumper, installed a duckbill spoiler and a pretty damn sweet Germany grille plaque. I drove it around for day like this and loved it.
-Next was to get it sitting a bit prettier, I had some FK lowering springs kicking around, and some other mk1 front struts, I snagged some lowering caps to add a bit more low and tossed them in the front, Inspected the steering and braking components while I was there, overall, not too bad. I do have some crossdrilled rotors and EBC pads to toss in when the right time comes. I installed the 3" lowering plates in the rear and re greased the bearings, adjusted the brakes and the Ebrake works great now. I tossed on the MK1 GTI arches and rolled the fenders since I new that I was going to put a different set of wheels on it sooner than later. I was impatient, so I put the rear back together and went to a wing night with some other VW nerds.
-last little bit I accomplished was really just planning. The interior is ugly, So many different colours and materials, missing door card, etc. SO I rumaged around and found a steering wheel in my collection, tossed that on, I had some NIB freedom design shift knobs, I installed it but didnt like were it sat, SO I made a shifter extension from a 1/2' extension I drilled and tapped to allow a securing bolt to do its thing!. Found a Mini cooper Ebrake and shifter boot set for my ladies old mini, I trimmed them up and stitched them all pretty to fit. I wrote on the dash to ensure I do something with it.
-Oh, Yeah, I got rear air shocks to fit a beetle, tossed those in but I had to trim the sleeve down a bit on each side. Then I test fit some wheels that I found for a reasonable deal
-I had some 185/55R15's from the Mini kicking around too and utilized them on the mystery wheels (Rota, Drag, Knockoff of a knockoff??). I know the Caddy isn't hella stanced or what ever the **** its called now adays. But I'm stoked on the ride height and look of the caddy as it sits. Hella Fog lamp was installed but I was lazy and havent wired it in yet, Then I flew back overseas for this rotation of work and I am scheming on a paint scheme for it and some interior ideas. When I get home, I will do up a 3" turbo back exhaust for kicks, figure out a solid scheme for the interior, install a stereo including components and a subwoofer, and some sound dampening. I do also need to do a 1/4" toe in alignment sooner than later. But for now, I am uber happy with this runabout.
