Been living in Calgary for a few years now, but finally brought my car out.
Some details:
1992 Golf 4dr GL with 86,000 km original on body, original non AC car with sunroof, and 250 km on VR6 crate motor and drivetrain
Engine
- 12v VR6 crate motor (2000 September assembly date)
- Crank checked for perfect balance and crank journals polished
- Fererra dual valvesprings
- ARP main studs, ARP con rod bolts, ARP head studs
- 6lb fly wheel
- Eurovan steel valve cover
- Custom R32 reinforced steelpan (greater clearance)
- MK5 R32 oil pump and pick up
- Schrick 268 degree cams
- S2 Metalwerks custom stainless steel header ceramic coated with grey ceramic coat (for cast look)
- HPG/HPA cast intake manifold/short runner
- EMPI driveshafts
- VF engineering solid engine mounts and transmission mount
- OE Santana radiator with radiator fill neck
- single large slim mishimoto "pusher" radiator fan
- Eurovan/G60 cable clutch setup to allow retention of factory MK2 pedal cluster (no drilling of hole for hydraulic MC)
- Polo shift box with O2J shift tower and shifter cables with dieselgeek short shift kit
In a nutshell here, all harware, seals, sensors, bushings, the clutch... everything in this drivetrain is brand new except for the rebuilt transmission where parts were reused.
Chassis
- Corrado K frame
- Passat front cross member
- New A arms with R32 bushings
- H&R Ultra Ultra Low coilovers
- New MK2 manual rack with new rods/bushings
Engine management
- VEMS/Lugtronic ECU with custom mil-spec harness and bulkhead (quick-disconnect) connector
Braking
- 9.4" vented brake setup front (MK3 GTI)
- Disc conversion and MK4 calipers (rear)
Wheels:
- 14x8.5 and 14x9.5 14" BBS RS with custom barrels and custom lips
- Custom 1/3rd height hex nuts and new black/silver BBS logos
- Faces refinished in BBS silver and cleared
- Wheels assembled with stainless steel harware
- Sealed with aluminum sealant, followed by RTV sealant
- Valve stems mounted in barrels
- New 195/40/14 Continental tires
Interior
- MK2 German 1984 hard plastic dash with ultra deep glovebox and ultra deep lower storage compartment
- Carat brown lower center console w/ power window switches
- MK2 radio delete
- Carat beige/brown carpet
- Recaro Trophy front seats recovered in tweed (centers) and Bentley chocolate leather (outers)
- MK3 Jetta rear bench recovered in tweed (centers) and Bentley chocolate leather (remaining area)
- German heavy grain beige parcel shelf and side shelves
- German beige trim pieces for either side of rear bench
- OEM Lap belts
- OEM C pillars without provision to bolt in shoulder belt
- all latches replaced with chrome units
- chrome Golde sunroof crank
- battery relocated to trunk
- New German CE2 tachless cluster with orange needles
- VEMS ECU mounted inside glovebox
Exterior
- full glass-out respray of exterior and engine bay in LA7U using RM/BASF paint, 5 coats of clear
- engine bay semi-shaved to rid of un-used holes while retaining character of sheet metal
- shaved rear VW badge, and wiper arm/squirter shaved from rear hatch
- fenders given 0.5" pull on fronts, and 0.5" pull on rears, rolled flat and seam sealed
- Heatercore secured with tapped inserts and countersunk hardware with rubber gaskets against firewall
- OEM round radiator support with Hella LHD headlamps
- German front fenders with provisions for side badges
- Rare Rabbit badges on front grille, front fenders and rear
- 1985 rear hatch glass (no brake light)
- NOS OEM front and rear chrome euro bumpers which I had to personally fly over to Canada from the UK
- All exterior body trim new
- New window seals all around
- Votex roof rack with lock keys
