Re: Non bacon car
Well 11+ hours of work on friday and the car looks much better. Unfortunately i was not able to pull all the scratches out of the hood, But for the first time using a proper polisher i am quite happy with the result.
My trunk lid was in pretty rough shape as well and here is a before/after of my first pass.
I don't have any pictures of the end result, but the paint looks a lot more deep and minimal sun swirls. Finished off with Exo on the full car, windows and also on the rotiforms. Makes car washes much easier.
I have a few more goodies waiting to go on before driven, and a few little things in the mail. Looking forward to getting it all on the car.Last edited by Danaldson; 03-28-2016, 05:45 PM.

That is a drastic difference from just one pass of the polisher. Did you burn through at anytime? My first time Polishing black with an air powered polisher wasnt perfect when I was done haha.Current toys

No i wasn't able to burn through the paint, I was using a porter cable 7424, of of those dual action orbitals that are safe to use. This was my first time polishing with a bigger machine so i wanted to be careful. Ive only don it by hand and with one of those crappy Canadian tire orbitals. My work definitely isn't perfect, but Im overall pretty happy with how it turned out.Last edited by Danaldson; 03-29-2016, 09:24 AM.

Nice work on the polish Danny!
I will be doing the same here soon hopefully. The porter cables are fantastic, Love mine. Last year did a 2 hour 2 stage polish and it definitely wasn't enough time.2007 A3 3.2vr | S-line | Quattro | Brilliant Black Sold

Re: Non bacon car
So some troubling things have been going on my car for a while now. I am burning oil like crazy.
Now that the weather has been nice, I've been having more fun driving the car than i normally would during the winter. Since then I've been noticing ive been burning more than i should be. I know it's normal for these engines to consume a little bit of oil, and need topping up between oil changes, so ive just kinda brushed it off and didn't really think anything of it.
I began tracking the oil consumption and i am going through more than 1 litre per 1000kms.
Now this only seems to happen when i am driving the car hard. I notice lots of blue smoke out the exhaust after hitting high boost, lifting off the gas pedal on deceleration. I only notice smoke when driving the car hard.
Some info on the car:
Currently at 125000 kms.
Stage 1 Um tune (peaks at 24psi) Apr Test Pipe/Intake
PVC & breather replaced at 105,000kms
Some say that because I'm hitting 24psi on my k03, My turbo could be gone, but lots of guys on audizine seem to be running 21-24psi psi with no problems. The car still pulls as hard as it did when i first got the tune.
I recently did my own little inspection under the car and:
Very little oil residue in the intercooler piping,
Looked on the underside of the car, and found oil residue on the turbo, mostly seems to be on the exhaust side.
Pic of area near diverter valve:
Car went into george @ tunedub on thursday for him to take a look at. And he said the Diverter valve was covered in oil, the breather (new one that was put in at 110,000kms) was covered in oil again and the valve cover gasket sweating oil. Said these were all leaking down onto the turbo.
So we went ahead and replaced the diverter valve, breather and valve cover gasket. They also did a hot oil flush (they said it can help the rings seal better) They told me to monitor the oil again, and see how it goes. and if not the next thing to do would be to get a new turbo. But the valve seals/piston rings are still a possibility.
Driving home, I noticed no improvement. Still lots of smoke coming out the back after boost and the car reeks.
so I'm looking for some advice here. Im not sure what i should do or check next. My guesses are that my car has either, Blown turbo, valve seals, or piston rings.
If anyone has any advice or ideas, it would be much appreciated. My mechanical knowledge is very minimal. You guys know that all I'm good with is bacon.Last edited by Danaldson; 04-09-2016, 04:25 PM.

Re: Non bacon car
If it's still pulling hard, your turbo is still working, the seals may be going in the turbo, which would deposit a lot of oil in your intercooler and intercooler piping.Hers 2009 Audi A4 6sp manual
