Hi everyone, my name is Aldrich, and I'm new here. Figured I'd make my first post as an intro, and continue this thread as a bit of a journal of everything I do on my car.
About a month ago, I picked up an 03 S6 Avant off of Andrew who works at Concept-1. He's been a good friend of mine for a few years from his Fifth Ave VW days. He came across an 03 S6 Avant (from whom I've known the previous owner of as well) that was having auto transmission issues. Andrew picked it up for cheap, and did a full correct 6MT swap. Got everything done properly, then decided he didn't need another car, so he was gonna sell it. He told me all he wanted for it was what he was into it for. I convinced him to let me borrow it a couple days, and immediately fell in love, so I ended up buying it, the price was just too good to pass up.
Its my first german vehicle, so everything about it is new to me, especially having to kinda hold the wheel while putting the lug bolts on (I've only ever had Japanese cars that had wheel studs).
First, a little vehicle history:
My first love, my 96 Honda Civic DX Coupe (owned 96-07):
Then purchased an 06 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner (owned 06-09):
Tacoma used up too much gas, so took over the lease of my brothers 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX (owned 09-present, currently for sale):
Which leads me to why I'm here now, my new to me 2003 Audi S6 Avant. Very much in love with the car. I guess I'm growing up, the car is so much more refined, comfortable, and quieter than my previous cars and has more power than I ever need. To me, the WRX was quick, this is just fast.
When I got the car, already added to the stock car were:
-6MT swap with an RS4 clutch and lightened flywheel
-Deleted cats
-Magnaflow mufflers
-KW v3 Coilovers
-APR tune (which is currently not active due to the auto-manual swap, Andrew is just waiting for APR to adjust for a manual transmission, then will load it on)
-RNS-E MMi Nav from a B5
-Fully tinted windows
-20mm wheel spacers on the front wheels
-APR Carbonio Intake system (from a B6/B7 S4, modded to fit)
Here's how she looked when I got her (bad iPhone pics):
In the month I've had it, I've done:
-Slightly tinted film on the headlights, taillights, 3rd brake light and rear fogs
-Yellow tinted film on the fog lights
-18x7.5 +45 Front, 18x8.5 +35 Rear Rotiform NUE's (previous owner before Andrew still had them, and I traded my Recaro seats and Bride seat rails from my WRX for them since he drives a WRX now)
-235/45/18 Pirelli 4 Season Tires
-Removed front window tint (too dark for me, will eventually get fairly light tint all the way around)
-Cupra front lip
-Shorty/stubby antenna from Concept-1
-All white LED Interior lights
-white LED license plate lights
Here's how she sits now (first shoot I did on her a few days ago):
Don't have many plans, just want to space out the wheels a little more just a tiny bit. I bought a set of 25mm H&R spacers today from here, and will move the 20mm spacers to the back to bring the rears out, and put the 25mm spacers on the fronts. Probably doing that tomorrow, so I will get pics. And eventually, I will order and install a set of Philips Daylight DRL units to modernize it a bit maybe in August, and MAYBE lower it a tad more (1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) depending on how it sits with the spacers. I'm getting too old for rubbing issues and bumpy suspension. Other than that, I plan to just enjoy the car! Next year I may step up to a set of 19's since the 18's might be too small for my taste on such a big car.
Anyways, thats all for now. Hope to learn more and contribute as much as I can from everyone here.
