It's strange nobody ever comes out to help on gearbox day.
Spent some time troubleshooting an electrical issue in the emergency kill switch system.
Need to get a new rain light and hopefully my wheel halves and tires arrive soon so i can start in to setup soon.

If you really like them Jongbloed does make street wheels as well. Shipping might be a bit much to where you are currently. I suggest ordering Magnesium wheels to make the shipping cheaper.

I try to make 2 sets of tires last a season cost is about 1K per set. All depends on how you scrub the tires in which i didn't do properly due to some mechanical issues. 1 Season is usually 4-5 Race weekends which consist of 3-5 races per weekend plus practice and qualy.

Yes its probably bent you should see the one with the crack running along the lip but if it holds air its good enough to race with and hell even if they don't hold air they just have to hold it for 30min.

Rule #1 in racing is never add up how much it costs as it will make baby jesus cry.
But here we go with rough #s
Start up costs
Cars (All prices depend on spares package and current status of safety equip)
Old cars 8-12K
Typical Regional Car 15-20K
Zetec Car Used 30-50K
Brand New Pro Car 120K
Personal Safety gear
Helmet $500-5000
Hans Device $300-$750
Nomex underwear $500
Fire suit $500-5000
Shoes $150-$500
Gloves $100-$300
Weekend Costs
Race Entry $350-500/weekend
Gas for Car $100
Hotel $100
Gas for tow vehicle $100
Food Etc ?
When you brake something its about $1000 to replace a corner on the car that's why a good spares package with car is important.
gear sets are about 150-300 per gear ratio.
You can keep spending all the money you want or as little as you want but always make sure things get replaced before they break not after.

Well have a bunch of weeks off before next race so work continues on the car. Since i banged up the nose in my first event i have used up most of my spare wings and winglets so time to start making some from fiberglass.
Will do some more permanent ones when i get some more gel coat.
Since the old man is running I stripped off my numbers from the car to get ready for his. Don't like the plane white end plates so added some blue vinyl to make it a little nicer. I have new black ones on the way and he will keep running these and i will run the black ones so we don't have to re-vinyl the numbers everytime we switch.
My son then asks where my numbers went and proceeded to dig them out of the garbage and insist we put them on his car.
Which then lead us to get sidetracked into building him a race track.
Which lead to his little sister wanting to drive.
Okay now back to work on the car. Wrapped the front wings in Gloss black as i was tired of polishing the bare aluminum wing. I am going to mention Vinyl hates me and i hate it equally. One day i plan to wrap a nice flat panel on a car somewhere instead of all these crazy curved wings and small parts that you can't hold while wrapping.
Turned out okay for the amount of pain in the ass it was. Was now onto getting the low nose to fit on the car with the different shock cover.
This is the low nose my dad will be running so we don't have to re-vinyl the cars when switching we just put on the different nose and shock cover. Needed to put in a couple more dzus fasteners and align the blocks that the nose hangs on.
Which meant a trip to crappy tire to pick up some more rivets. Never a short trip with these 2
Took the nose off half a dozen times but got it all lined up and fastened down.
Had the a set of wheels re-balanced as we lost some wheel weights last race weekend. Mounted them and gave the body a quick clean.
Decided to wrap the mirrors because I hate myself and couldn't do it in one piece of vinyl so ended up going 2 tone because I was bored.
When we changed gears over the weekend apparently i was driving around with 1 tooth missing in second found the complete tooth sitting on the magnet in the gearbox. No idea how it made it thru all the gears without wrecking anything. Also not sure why we keep having teeth snap clean off.
Just need the new numbers to arrive this weekend and we should be ready for the AUG 23/24 weekend.
