The long road home - Intro and an epic road trip all for a car.
Re: The long road home - Intro and an epic road trip all for a car.
Well already posted in the what did you do thread, but regardless!
Tires showed up yesterday, dropped them off with Ed the tire guy.
Gotta love the sportback for all the room for activities!!
60 bucks later they were done and I picked them up after work.
Then a long painful drive through construction and rush hour to get to my buddies condo and start the swap!
Bit of a pizza and beer break and we were done!
Pretty happy with the Falken tires, so much quieter than the shitty winter rated no season nokians I had on there, honestly such a terrible tire haha.
Fitment is pretty dang decent, rears rub a tiny bit - last picture i had two winters loaded up so squatting a bit. Still think the rear will have to come up a hair just to give in an even amount of wheel gap all the way around. That and remove the one fender screw and tab at the very back which is the culprit of my rubbing!
That's all for now. Once the bank account has replenished itself more goodies will have to get ordered so stay tuned!

I loved the WRG2 tyres when I had a set. They worked good for two winters, and I got almost 60k km of hard driving out of them... what didn't you like?
Wheels look good, btw.

The traction was brutal. Compared to my last A3 with cheapo winters these didn't even come close to the same amount of grip. (not that I expected them too, just what the car came with)
The wear as well was bad, one tire was a little low when I got the car so not sure if that affected the wear, but my god were they noisy once the snow was gone.
All in all just reaffirms that i will always run dedicated winters. So will be replacing them this fall!

Were they the WR tyres or the all-season? Interesting that we had such different experiences. They were a stop-gap tire I bought when I first got the black coupe, being in college I had no money. Nowadays she gets nothing but the best
What's up next on your mod-list?

They got the WR stamped right on em! haha
Well once the bank account recovers from mexico and other stuff, next up will likely be exhaust and get my windows tinted... And if the year end bonus comes in big then euro tails, all the leds for interior, license plate lights and reverse lights.
Still on the list for eventually is
Rear sway bar
DSG Tune
Haldex Tune
Then I gotta decide whats next after that. Either when I do the chains I do cams. or I get that new base kit HPA has for the 5 grand... but A house will have to happen before that.
