  • Brandon's back in a euro

    Hey guys,

Sold my truck, and it's a few months before my new one gets here, so I wanted a cheap car to run around in to tide me over for a few weeks. I miss my old car, so wanted another mk4.

    My old car;
    http://www.eurodrivers.ca/forums/sho...5-My-T-Red-24v

Not as exciting as the 24v, and certainly doesn't sound as nice, but I got myself a 2.0L.

I payed $1400 which I thought was a pretty good deal

She's a 1999 GLS 2.0L with 340 000kms, heated seats, sunroof, power everything, interior is in perfect condition. New transmission and clutch 10 000 kms ago. Exterior has a few rough spots, minor rust under the license plate and on the rear wheel well, paint peeling under the drivers door, but overall, and especially for the price, I love it. She may be a candidate for plasti-dip I think, haha.

Already ordered a stubby antenna and some new clear sidemarkers
Future plans; NOTHING! I wanna leave it the eff alone
Buuuuut, being me, I probably won't. So at the absolute most (hopefully) coilovers, wheels, new headlights, black mirrors, black grille.

Not as cool as the GLI, but as an a to b temporary run around, she should work just nicely

Very nice find and grab...thats one of the things I like about MKIV's...as long as they aren't beat up they don't look outdated.

I think the '99 Cavalier I had back in high school was faster

Agreed 100%, it sure doesn't look like a 14 year old car

Hell of a deal! I thought you were gonna have a hard time finding one for under $2000, but apparently I was wrong! Congrats!

I think I was just lucky, I wouldn't count on finding a deal like this again that's for sure

I like the colour, I just can't get past some of the rough spots really. We'll see how it goes, and if they still bug me in a few weeks. I've always wanted to try it too, haha

Why not get some paint mixed up at a bodyshop supply place (you can get multi stage in spray cans) and fix the bad spots? It will probably end up costing about the same and you will get to keep the green paint!

Laaaaaaaaazy. Haha. I've also always wanted to give it a try, ill split a kit with derek/tirerub if I decide to do it so that'll keep cost down.

You bet, haha. This weekends efforts will be the coolant system. Neighbours are going to think we moved, both got new cars in the span of a few days. Or that we're running a chop shop with often we seem to change cars
