    Re: MK2 jetta, Ned

I couldn't clock the turbo any differently. With all the awd stuff and that massive turbo there isn't any room back there. I had to bash the firewall as it sits just to fit the turbo

Finally did some work on the car. Mounted the ecu in glovebox instead of sitting in the footwell.

Is there anyone on here with megasquirt experience? The car has sat for almost a year waiting on me to take it to the dyno shop. I'm looking for someone to help me with the ignition map so that I can drive the damn car this year
Let me know if anyoneis willing to lend a hand or some know how

                  Re: MK2 jetta, Ned

Been off work for spring for the last week and a half, so I've been thrashing to get the car driving. Picked up a hydro handbrake. Simply because i didn't want to order a whole new ebrake setup since mine all dissappeared sometime during the swap. fixed a broken wire that wasn't powering up my ecu. Bought a vacuum manifold so that i can properly plumb in my BOV and Boost gauge. Paid a visit to Redbull for some welds on my BOV flange. and picked up the last few fittings for my fuel cell vent. and judging from the smell in my garage I need to get that vent sorted out right away before 20L of super 94 evaporates on me. tomorrows plans mount handbrake, decide on line routing for handbrake. pick up vacuum line and hopefully the last fittings i need, instal BOV, address fuel cell vent, and datalog/tune to the best of my incredibly limited tuning knowledge. IF i take it out of the garage I'll set up the go pro and maybe post a video, maybe

                          Re: MK2 jetta, Ned

Rough HP estimate at current essentially base map tuning is about 280 crank HP. But it runs atrociously rich, the ignition map is a complete shot in the dark and I'm only running around 5-10 psi of boost. Off the numbers of the current parts I have potential to make a lot more. The weak points are my clutch, then the viscous coupler and then the stock head. If it makes around 300 to the wheels on the 10psi I'm planning on running this year I'll be ecstatic. Once all the bugs are worked out of the car I would like to make 400awhp on the current setup with a better tune and then depending on what breaks first do front and rear diffs and control arms. Transmission work and a general work over of the driveline. Or whether I will build a stroker and do the head. 2.1l stroker, big port head, with port an polish and cams and valves. Haven't decided what this next winter will have in store yet

                            MK2 jetta, Ned

I'm terrible at keeping secrets. Dyno time is booked for this Wednesday. In the past week I've built the fuel cell vent. Cleaned up wiring under the dash. Picked up and installed a vacuum manifold so I could route my vacuum lines properly and installed the bov. Rerouted the boost gauge line so that it actually reads vacuum. It's reading around 15 in-hg. It's been so long since this thing ran stock I don't remember if that's normal or I have a small vacuum leak

I also removed the rear section of my prop shaft, because the dyno is only 2wd. The load difference from 2wd to awd shouldn't be enough to affect the ignition map that I'm tuning.

When we built the exhaust I used 3 vband clamps through out the length of it. With the idea being that if I ever had to get at the driveshaft it could be a one man job. After I pulled the exhaust and driveshaft and reinstalled half the driveshaft and the exhaust I started pulling off the remains of the factory fuel system. Pulling off the factory exhaust hangers and cleaned up the underside of the car. Also since I put the bigger turbo in the hood has hit on the inter cooler piping and the throttle body. But after some clever aligning and some assistance in the form of a ball peen hammer it closes and latches like factory.

not bad for only 12psi and no boost controller. I'm happy with that
