  • DarkFaders 2.5 "Slow Project* Golf

I'm a bit late getting a thread started here seeing as I have had the car for almost 2 years now. Figured I would join the gallery club regardless.

It's hasn't been a fast (enough, in my eyes) build since I bought the car, as I am working to clear off a heavy debt load that I racked up at a younger age. So I buy what I can when I can afford it with cash these days!

It started off as your typical 2.5L Golf.

I soon shaved off the 2.5L and Golf from the back hatch:

Followed by blacking out the front/rear badges.

13 months later I finally got around to ordering my coilovers. I went with a set of JOM Bluelines.

And this is pretty much how it sits today..

      Thanks rodman!

Bit of an update regarding the stereo system.

I have currently blown 2 of the 4 woofers (front pass and rear driver) so the stereo upgrade has been pushed ahead. I was always impressed with the sound of the factory setup to be honest, so upgrading was never a priority, but now it's at the top of the list.

I got what I feel was a great deal on a BNIB Alpine Type R 10" Sub and Alpine MRP-M650 Mono Amp this weekend... I know they are slightly older models, but they are brand new, never used. I couldn't pass it up.

My plan was to stock pile the pieces of the system, but once I got home with that stuff yesterday I started looking around at speakers to compliment the sub. I went today and ordered the following:

Alpine Type R 6.5" Component Speakers (Front doors)
Alpine Type S 6.5" Component Speakers (Rear doors)
Alpine V-Power MRP-F300 4/3/2 Channel Amp (to power the speakers)

Yes, I am a bit of an Alpine fan until I get to HU. Now the only piece of the puzzle left is a Head Unit. I've currently got it down to either of these:

Single DIN - Pioneer CD Receiver With Bluetooth (DEHP9400BH)

      Double DIN - JVC 6.1" Double DIN USB/CD/DVD w/ iPhone Control (KWAV60)

Want to supercharge that thing? Did you see our 2.slow at far from home? We are actually looking for a 2.5 to supercharge, I was going to rent one.

Even if your are not interested, good work so far, looks great.

Black cars always look awesome when clean.

Re: DarkFaders 2.5 "Slow Project* Golf

Finished up my stereo a few weeks ago, just got around to snapping a few pics. I am thoroughly impressed at how well the Golf/GTis are build. I was expecting a lot of rattles with the sub, but there is nothing rattling! Still need to clean up the wires into the amp for the speakers, but that's no biggie.

My head unit changed from my previous post, as well as the amp for the speakers, I switched to the Alpine V-Power MRP-F600 4/3/2, but everything else stayed the same.

Head unit and Sub.. I never got pics of the speakers during install unfortunately.

Been awhile since I updated this thread.

Finally after, well, quite a damn long time I have gotten around to getting my first set of wheels for this car. It hasn't been an easy process, I've debated about so many choices to the point where I thought I would never actually settle on something but to be honest the ones I picked up today were actually on my list from very early on.

At the very least I helped onceover clear out some space.

Still need to get some rubber for these, but I'm stoked on the purchase!

Looks great, who needs tires when people are stretching tires like mad now, just go tireless hah. Is there a lot of camber in the rear or is it just me...

Hope so. Have read a few conflicting posts around the mk6 forums regarding 19x9.5 in the rear. There may be some additional fender work required that I wasn't planning on.. but we'll see.

Thanks. There is a bit of camber back there from being lowered, yes.

Far from clean these days.. I got a few body things I want to get fixed. The hood is due for a re-paint considering all the rock chips I've gotten driving on the hi-way between Calgary and Airdrie. Bumper has a few scuffs on the each side from getting to close to curbs not long after lowering it. Ugh.. I basically need a full exterior detailing job done.

I never did take him up on the offer at the time. Would have liked to, but being a guinea pig when I need reliability just wasn't in the cards.

Always wondered what happened to Par's radarwerks. Those look dope. If you need any polishing done on your bumper or anything, send me a PM.
                            Ps: supercharge it!!

Clean audio work! You should black out your sidemarkers next, they look kinda distracting.
