                ^ Wanna Trade?

Bit of an update. Got the euro rub strip painted and on (no pics).
Rewrapped the trunk with denim. Much better than the suede.
I also finished the other set of retrofit's I was working on. Used textured black paint for the housing. I really like how they turned out and will probably use them for winter.

I pulled the rear fenders a tiny bit with a roller last week and now it's sitting just how I want it. Dropper it another 1/4" as well. Also completely removed front fender liners and it's now laying frame.

Re: The New Addition- MKIV GLI

So since I bought the car, I have had a 'whine' while decelerating in gear. A bit of research has led me to believe that it is the main input bearing that causes this issue. It has a bad lubrication design within the casing which causes the bearing to overheat and fail, creating a horrendous noise. I'm not driving the car this winter so I have decided to take the time to rebuild it with all new bearings. I'm also going to do a preventative fix on the ever so common failures on the shift fork, as well as a new clutch

Sean came over yesterday to help me finish removing the transmission. Went very smooth and took no time at all, it was a lot easier than what I was expecting. I need to get a small set of lock ring pliers to get all the gears out. I will update this thread with pics and progress as the rebuild continues.

Finished taking the trans apart tonight.

All the gears and synchro rings are in good shape, so those don't need to be touched.

This is the magnet found in the bottom of the case, nothing bad found in it just a few granules from normal wear.

Here's the clutch disk. Not bad for 152k km's. I'd say probably about 20k kms left in it. It will be replaced

Hmmm... I wonder how much clutch wear I caused and how much the idiot before me caused... haha
