    Re: Y2K TDI gone wild

    Maintenance Is Paramount....

MKIV forum peeps will get the title of this section

    - I've been without a functional trunk for almost 2 months. Too lazy to fix it. Finally had the time to remove the cover and see wtf was up.

Thankfully the fix was simple. The pull rod had come out of its holder. Reinsert and voila fixed.

    - Onto the engine bay. Check out what I found in my snow screen

    Dump it out:

Double you tee ef, fully intact!

    - When I say its my daily driver......I mean it does everything. I carried like 350lbs of mortar cement in the back last week.
    Doin work:

    - And finally...........down she went
Cranked the front all the way down.

Fender liners were rubbin hard....until the necessary areas melted of course

Completed pics coming ASAP! Having issues with photobucket at the moment

Your collars are all the way down but you still have your helper springs in haha.

And i ran my car all the way down (22.75" ftg) and it was fine, as long as you have a skid plate

Winter mode? I dont see any snow on the ground.

MechEngg: haha, I was about to pull the helpers when I was assembling the coils. Thankful I didnt as I am content with the current height. Its drivable without having to worry about breaking stuff (my black Jetta on the other hand.....ugh). Car will be jacked up for winter time, lift kit style. Thanks again for your offer of assistance with spacers!

                  BEGIN LE 2012

                  1. Got a brand new ECS skidplate from btimbit.
Take note, their instructions are BS in regards to torque specs. They said 36ftlbs is needed to secure the rivets into place. I wish. This IS a 2 man job if you want to do it right. At 36ft lbs the rivets were still spinning = your plate will not be tight. The 3 rivets that go into the subframe are no issue, 1 person required. The 4 bolts which secure the front posts into the frame are a different story. Good luck holding a 19mm wrench in one hand while applying vertical pressure on the rivet (perfectly straight) with your chest and then using all your muscle to move a breaker bar without your entire setup falling on your face. Long story short, have a second man handy and it will go smoothly.

Yeah yeah BS phone pics of a skidplate in my garage

#2: Car was then spun down because I was bored, 2 threads up front, 2 threads left in the rear. Skid plate nicely hits various bumps on Macleod and shoots sparks. I love it ()

#3: I know more snow is in the forecast. Couldn't really care. This is the first time I've been home in years with a chance to put summers on early. Of course the next day it snows....notasinglfukgivn.jpg

Absolutely love this quick phone pic...

Couple changes for this year, nothing major as the car is wayyy down on the priority list, but I always enjoy working on it.

Once again, best wishes to all that have provided helpful assistance and valuable knowledge over the many years. Always appreciated.

Did you just get the muffler straight piped or the cat as well? How much was it/is it loud and where did you get it done?

Thinking of doing the same thing with mine.

                              Well.

4 years have passed since an update.

Only changes since then were adding a 4-mo valence, and removal of the cat.

                              After that just maintenance

                              Today.....

                              SOLD

End of an era with my favorite pic of all
