        Re: old blue build thread.

It has been either raining or snowing so much lately, haven't been able to get anything done. So instead I will post these pictures up here showing what kind of goodies have showed up so far!

        All together.

Braided brake lines + clutch line, bfi mounts, pbr ceramics, and brembo blanks.

Wheels finally showed up, they aren't three piece like I assumed, but I am still super stoked with them. They'll be getting refinished in the near future. Still gotta get tires for them.

Skirts and emblems are on, next up is the headlight polish.

Also going to shine up the centers on my wheels, and get out the sandpaper and start on the lips!

Me neither, I have to save a bit before I can snag tires. I'll be doing a test fit once they're shined up though.

Looks good but hard to see the skirts or emblem in that picture.

What are the specs on the wheels?

                            Re: old blue build thread.

Update: Finally got some tools plus a friend to help and started working. I didn't take many pictures in the process and the pictures I did take were just quick snaps.

First we assembled all the things we needed.

Then we started by getting the car up on jackstands.

Next we took off the wheels and saw what we were dealing with.

Started taking **** out of the bay to get to the mounts.

Mounts are in, had trouble with the dogbone. I snapped the head off one of the bolts holding it into the crossmember.. still dealing with that tomorrow. Half of the bolt closest in the third picture is what is holding the db in.

Had most of the car apart by the time we quit.

One brakeline done, the rest tomorrow should be easier now that we know how.

Took off the intercooler and poured out gross sludge, taking some brake cleaner to this tomorrow.

Tomorrow should hopefully bring the all the brakes and brake lines being finished, as well as the clutch line if we figure that out too. I also have to figure out what to do about the damn db mount.

                              Re: old blue build thread.

Well it rained again.. but here is a bit more progress.

Finished both front brakes and lines.

Got the lines out of the rear and new ones installed. The caliper bolts are seized.. need to figure that out tomorrow.

One of the front set screws got all bunged up.

Finally got the dogbone bolt situation figured out. That was a pain in the ass.

Tomorrow I will hopefully have the rear rotors done, and the clutch line. Then I just need to do a final bleed of the system and I can put the wheels back on and drive it for a bit until my suspension gets here!

                                Re: old blue build thread.

                                Wordy update, but pictures first.

Got the bushings in the dogbone, ordered a new bolt to replace the one I snapped, and got it bolted in no problem.

Got the clutch line installed as well.

Dealt with the rear caliper bolts by spraying industrial strength rust remover on the bolts every couple hours everyday, then went at the bolts with a blowtorch. I had stripped one or two of the bolts slightly, so after they were heated up it was just manpower with vice grips. Ordered four new rear caliper bolts, have to wait until maybe thursday next week to get them though. As soon as they get here, rear rotors and pads will be done up, i'll throw the steelies back on and start on the trunk setup for the tank and compressors.

Air ride will be here next weekend. Wheels are halfway to being done, found tires and am getting them mounted up asap when the wheels are done. I have to save a bit for tuner lugs and 20/25mm spacers to finalize the stance I want.
